It looks as if 2019 is going to be a fantastic year for enjoying Disney films! Walt Disney Studios has provided ageekdaddy.com with its slate of motion picture releases and I can tell from looking at it that I'm going to be visiting the movie theater a lot with my kids this year. Live action remakes of classic Disney animated films, the exciting culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universes super hero showdown, and the final chapter of the Skywalker clans story in Star Wars are sure to generate a lot of box office excitement, and revenue, for Disney.
In addition to remakes and sequels, Disney is also releasing some interesting brand new stories too including an animal documentary on penguins, a super heroine called Captain Marvel leads a movie that looks to make her a central figure in the next phase of comic book inspired motion pictures, and Artemis Fowl will is a sci-fi fantasy adventure that will transport audiences into a high tech fairy world. Recently went on a daddy-daughter night out to see the Broadway in Detroit showing of the Aladdin musical at the Detroit Opera House and she is really looking forward to seeing the new movie coming at in May. Of course, I'm geeked to see Avengers Endgame and Star Wars Episode IX. My wife is counting down the days until The Lion King arrives while my son seems most intrigued about Artemis Fowl though like is dad he is very excited about the Avengers and Star Wars movies as well.
After our Toy Story Land trip to Walt Disney World last June the whole family is enthused about seeing a new franchise sequel on the big screen this summer. Have to admit there is some Frozen fatigue with our family and wonder how many other families feel the same way as a sequel arrives at theaters for the holiday movie watching season. All in all it looks to be a blockbuster year for Walt Disney Studios. I really should consider buying some Disney stock this year!
Go ahead and check out the official Walt Disney Studios calendar of movie releases and film synopsis for yourself. Click on the images below to enlarge the view of each of these movie promo sheets. Here is to a year full of entertaining and exciting times at the movie theater in 2019! As the late great Stan Lee would have said → Excelsior!
So I've shared the movies my family is wanting to see ... which is just about all of them actually. What movies are you must looking forward to seeing this year for family outings to the movie theater?

THE LION KING Roars To Life With All Star Cast
The next movie in Disney's efforts to recreate some of its most beloved animated movies in a blend of real world environments and life life CGI special effects is moving forward with the recent announcement of the casting for director Jon Favreau's new take on the "The Lion King." After Favreau's efforts in The Jungle Book, my whole family is excited to see this new adaption of "The Lion King!" Especially after learning about the stellar cast that will be voicing the characters in the movie.
Lions rule the African savanna in “The Lion King,” which welcomes Donald Glover (“Atlanta,” “Solo: A Star Wars Story”) as future king Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter ("Dreamgirls,” “Lemonade” visual album) as Simba’s friend-turned-love interest Nala, and James Earl Jones (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” “Field of Dreams”) as Simba’s wise and loving father, Mufasa, reprising his iconic performance from Disney’s 1994 animated classic. Chiwetel Ejiofor (“Twelve Years a Slave,” Marvel Studios’ “Doctor Strange”) was called on to portray Simba’s villainous uncle Scar, and Alfre Woodard Juanita,” Marvel’s “Luke Cage”) portrays Simba’s no-nonsense mother, Sarabi.
Every kingdom comes with a trustworthy advisor or two. John Kani (“Coriolanus,” Marvel Studios’ “Captain America: Civil War”) was cast as the wise baboon Rafiki, and John Oliver (HBO’s “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver,” Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”) was tapped as hornbill Zazu, Mufasa’s loyal confidant. When Simba goes into exile, he relies on two newfound friends—Seth Rogen(“Sausage Party,” “Neighbors”) lends his comedic chops to naïve warthog Pumbaa, and Billy Eichner (“Billy on the Street,” FX’s “American Horror Story”) joins the cast as know-it-all meerkat Timon.
While most of the animals in the kingdom respect the king, the hyenas have other plans. Florence Kasumba (NBC’s “Emerald City,” Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther”) portrays Shenzi, Eric André (Adult Swim’s “The Eric André Show,” FXX’s “Man Seeking Woman”) is Azizi, and Keegan-Michael Key (“Predator,” Netflix’s “Friends from College”) plays Kamari.
THE LION KING is expected to roar into theaters across the United States on July 19, 2019.
