Celebrate Hela-ween

Celebrate Hela-ween this year in honor of Marvel Studio's newest movie being released on November 3: THOR RAGNAROK.  In this third movie featuring Thor within the Marvel cinematic universe, Hela the goddess of death breaks free from her ancient imprisonment by Odin the king of Asgard.  She is now intent on getting revenge and becoming ruler of everything within the universe.

Attempting to stand in her way, Thor finds himself imprisoned in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his fellow Avenger and former ally ... The Incredible Hulk.  Without the assistance of his mighty hammer Mjolnir can Thor avoid being smashed apart by the Hulk.  Will Thor be able to break free from the Contest of Champions to prevent the all-powerful Hela from destroying Asgardian civilization?  Make sure to see THOR RAGNAROK on the big screen when it arrives at movie theaters on November 3, 2017 to find out!

Courtesy of our friends at Marvel Studios, A GEEK DADDY has some fun activities to share with you to celebrate HELA-WEEN as you wait for the theatrical release of THOR RAGNAROK:

HELA PUMPKIN CARVINGS

Hela is a master of carving people up in THOR RAGNAROK.  CLICK HERE to download a pattern to help you carve your very own Hela jack-o-lantern.  This pumpkin stencil from the Disney Family blog makes for a great way to decorate your front door for Hela-ween.

MJOLNIR CANDY APPLES

This is no trick! Make yourself a treat that looks and tastes great with these Mjolnir candy apples.  My family loves candy apples as a fun autumn snack and this recipe is a really marvelous idea that ties into the release of the THOR RAGNAROK movie. CLICK HERE to read the full recipe.

Marvel Studios THOR: RAGNAROK Superpower of STEM Challenge

Marvel Studios is encouraging girls to unleash the power of STEM as part of the promotion of their upcoming movie THOR: RAGNAROK.  Between now and September 23, girls aged 15 - 18 in grades 10 - 12 living within the United States can submit an original STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) inspired Do-It-Yourself project for a chance to win a trip to Log Angeles.  Five finalists will be selected to present their projects in person to a panel of experts and attend the Red Carpet Premiere of Marvel Studios' THOR: RAGNAROK.

One grand-prize winner will be selected from the five finalists to attend an immersive three-day mentorship in New York City with Disney Imagineering to build her STEM story, creating a professional-level video teaching other young people how to recreate her Challenge-winning project. The winner will also have the opportunity to demonstrate her Superpower of STEM project live to the nation with a brief appearance on Good Morning America. (The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Good Morning America / ABC News.) The video created during her mentorship will be made available to students, teachers and families worldwide on the American Association for the Advancement of Science education resource website ScienceNetLinks.com.
