The Magic World of Pop-up Books

** A Geek Daddy received the featured product for free to review**

I marveled at pop-up books when I was a child and can recall spending countless hours flipping through the pages of the Star Wars ones my grandmother had given me one year for my birthday with a huge smile on my face as I imagined adventures someplace far, far away off in space. So it was great to witness the amazement and excitement on my daughter's face as I shared with her renowned pop-up book creator Matthew Reinhart's newest creation, DISNEY PRINCESS: A MAGICAL POP-UP WORLD.  Reinhart's previous pop-up books have included DC Super Heroes: The Ultimate Pop-Up Book, My Little Pony: The Castles of Equestria, Game of Thrones: A Pop Up Guide to Westeros, Star Wars: A Galactic Pop-Up Adventure, and Transformers: The Ultimate Pop Up Universe, among others.  Disney Princess provides twenty-seven pop-ups and transformative scenes featuring beloved princess characters from eleven Walt Disney Studio animated feature films.

The 3D portrayals and special effects of this book delighted my daughter.  These include a giant representation of Rapunzel's tower from the movie Tangled that pops out of the book at you and an interactive scene that lets readers transform Cinderella from wearing rags to appearing in an elegant ball gown.

The book also brings to life Snow White dancing with the Seven Dwarfs, Ariel's romantic boat ride with Prince Eric, and the dragon battle scene from Sleeping Beauty as gigantic pop-up displays.  Smaller pop-ups provide intricate depictions of classic movie scenes such as Belle dancing with the Beast, Jasmine and Aladdin flying on a magic carpet, and Merida shooting a bow and arrow.  There are also magic mirrors placed complimenting the larger displays.  There are also magic mirrors sprinkled throughout the book that have the images within them transform before your eyes.  These include Mulan flipping from a geisha girl outfit to her warrior get up and Tiana switching from human form into a frog.

Disney Princess: A Magical Pop-Up World's state-of-the-art paper engineering and beautifully rendered illustrations makes this a great book to pick-up for a child or a Disney fan who is a kid at heart.  My daughter has read this fascinating book several times and has discovered something new in it that has wowed her every time.  She's been keeping it on her nightstand flipping through it every night before bedtime.
