Become the King of Rest with a Restonic mattress

Disclosure: I have partnered with Life of Dad and Restonic Mattress for this promotion.
Stuffed animal bedroom infestations, all night binge watching on Netflix, working late hours to catch up on job assignments, or an uncomfortable mattress for your bed can all be causes of not getting a good night's sleep.  According to polling from the National Sleep Foundation, yes there is such a thing and it has a Board of Directors filled with reputable university professors and medical doctors, 92% of people say a comfortable mattress is important for a good night's sleep.  Are you comfortable with the mattress you sleep on?

Often times people don't make getting a good night's sleep a priority.  That's a big mistake as the National Lung, Heart and Blood Institute (a division of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services) warns that failing to get adequate sleep can negatively impact your mental and physical health, quality of life, and safety.  The bedroom should be a person's castle that buttresses you from the stresses of work and life being a place where one can focus on rest and relaxation.  Everyone should strive to be the King of Rest of their castle!

With all the responsibilities of parenting, it can be easy for busy dads and moms not to get a good nights sleep and find themselves tired throughout the day.  Falling asleep while with your kids can put you in a precarious position if you have mischievous kids like mine who wouldn't hesitate to wildly spin you around on a tire swing or decorate your face with a magic marker mustache.  Kidding aside taking a cat nap while you are supposed to be supervising your kids while out shopping, playing at the park, or even just staying around the house could result in some disastrous situations. Accidents, stranger danger, and medical emergencies are all very serious reasons that parents always need to be on their guard around children and can't let a lack of sleep get in the way.

National Lung, Heart and Blood Institute research shows a correlation between not regularly getting enough quality sleep and being at greater risk for a number of diseases and health problems.  Because sleep assists in repairing blood vessels and maintaining a healthy hormone balance, an ongoing deficiency can increase the risk of obesity, heart disease, kidney disorders, high blood pressure, fertility problems, diabetes, and stroke. Their research has also shown how a lack of sleep can exact a toll on a person's perception and judgment which can put people's safety at risk, especially when people are operating machinery or driving while drowsy.  Did you know that drowsy driving can be just as dangerous as drinking and driving?

Information compiled by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that drowsy driving is the cause of at least 100,000 automobile crashes within the United States every year resulting in approximately 40,000 injuries and 6,000 fatalities.  Studies by Harvard University have shown that losing just a few hours of sleep each night can impair a person's ability to drive in the same way consuming alcohol can.  Being sleepy slows reactions, hinders decision making, disrupts concentration, reduces alertness, and negatively impacts coordination; yet many people don't associate being drowsy as being as dangerous as drunk when it comes to driving.  The National Sleep Foundation's polling has shown 60% of adults have driven a vehicle while drowsy and 37% have admitted to falling asleep while driving.

Don't put your health, and that of your loved ones, in jeopardy by not getting enough sleep! Here are some tips from Restonic that helped make me a KING OF REST:

Embrace the Dark Side:  Medical studies have shown that you'll sleep better the darker a room is!  Make sure you have curtains that do a great job of blocking out light from your bedroom windows.  Avoid electronic devices from emitting light in proximity to your bed.  You may look ridiculous but a sleep mask could pay huge dividends when it comes to ensuring you are getting enough rest.

Make your bedroom a "Sleep Only" zone: Don't watch television, eat snacks, surf online with your mobile device, or bring work from your job to bed with you.  These activities will disrupt your rest and hinder getting a good night's sleep.

Schedule a Bedtime:  Block off 8-9 hours for sleep on your calendar every day just as you would when scheduling doctor's appointments, kids soccer games, or work assignments then stick with keeping that commitment every night.  If you can go to bed and get up at the same time every day it makes it easier for getting enough sleep to be the routine rather than the exception.

Select a Comfortable Mattress:  It is important to sleep on a mattress that is supportive of your personal body style by buffering your pressure points from the weight you press against them.  This allows your muscles to relax and aligns the spine while you sleep. Your spine is curved naturally and supporting those curves provides for a sleep experience that will rejuvenate and revitalize you.

Restonic has a variety of hand-made mattress options available because they understand not everyone is the same and people have a variety of needs when it comes to getting a good night's sleep. He made 2 daybeds for the girls and our son has a metal loft bed. But we bought them good matresses which were pricey. Worth it though so they fet great sleep for school. Education is the most important thing outside of love honesty and respect. So it was a must for us. Now we are sleeping on pretty much metal. Lol its not great at all. I try not to complain because my kids are happy which makes us happy. But physically its exhausting to wake up not rested. Thks for the chance. Btw love the pics. 14. I need a new mattress because mine is embarrassingly 15 years old and has a spring poking through underneath. Plus it's just a terrible mattress now, it used to be awesome but obviously not now.

  16. Wow a new mattress would mean I could stop sleeping in my son's room in order to have a good night's rest. My hubby has back problems and the bed we have now it just so uncomfortable to me I spend more time tossing and turning than I do sleeping. Would be nice to have more mommy daddy time that's for sure!

  19. I actually love my bed, I just hate my mattresses. There is a cracked board in the box springs which makes the bed uneven, uncomfortable, and a bit wobbly and honestly I've never had mattresses that were mine so this would be cool! Having new mattresses to go with my beautiful bed that I love would truly be a blessing! Good luck everyone!!!

  20. Married 14, going on 15 years. Same mattress all that time. Wires poking through the pillowtop. Do you think that has anything to do with me being tired all day? I think it is time.
