DAPHNE AND VELMA MOVIE NIGHT

** Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me a FREE copy of the Blu-ray featured in this blog post. The opinions I share are my own**
Saturday evening was a family movie night watching an advance showing provided to us by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment of the straight to video release of DAPHNE & VELMA.  Available on Digital, Blu-ray and DVD on May 22, 2018 this live action adventure tells the story of how the leading ladies of the Mystery Inc. gang met each other in high school before they later teamed up in their cartoon escapades with Shaggy, Fred, and Scooby-Doo. The show features Sarah Jeffery (Disney's "Descendants: Wicked World") as Daphne and Sarah Gilman (ABC's “Last Man Standing”) as Velma and is suitable for all ages to watch together with a G rating making it a family-friendly selection for a movie night at home.

"The smart and resourceful women of Scooby-Doo fame come to life in this all-new mystery," remarked Mary Ellen Thomas, Warner Bros Home Entertainment Vice President of TV Marketing, Family & Animation, to A Geek Daddy while promoting the movie.  "Young girls especially will be delighted to discover how these clever heroines come together for their very first adventure demonstrating that no mystery is too big for these 'meddling' girls to solve!"

In the cartoons, after the Mystery Inc. gang has broken up a crook's plot the bad guy normally bellows out the catchphrase "I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for those meddling kids." That cartoon theme of the kids meddling in a dastardly plot carries over to this live action movie.  Teenaged Daphne and Velma get caught up in a bizarre situation at their high school that they aren't sure whether is the result of scientific or supernatural causes.

Ridge Valley High is a school where state of the art robots and high-tech gadgets are common sights.  It is an innovative center of learning for some of the brightest minds in the country, including new transfer student, the bright and optimistic Daphne Blake who is excited to finally go to school with her online BFF, the smart and analytical Velma Dinkley.  But not everything is as innocent as it seems as mysterious behavior plagues the top-performing students on campus.

Once cheery and full of life, these students have become "zombiefied" lifeless shells of themselves.  These aren't scary zombies though just overachiever teens suddenly acting like they are sleep walking through life.  Can Daphne and Velma learn to work together and restore these students lost vigor or will these two girls become the next victim of the phantom haunting their school?

Zikes! Will these meddling kids solve this zombie mystery?!  You'll have to watch the movie to find out!
