HALLOWEEN FUN RUNS

metro detroit halloween fun runs

Here is the trick to help prevent all the treats circulating around us this time of year from expanding your waistline. Work off some of the weight participating in a Halloween fun run. Toss on a costume to go along with your running shoes and hit the pavement. Here are some local events taking place around Michigan this Halloween season:

ZOMBIE DASH 5K (Grand Rapids) -- SATURDAY OCT 22

Run through the streets of downtown Grand Rapids as darkness sets. Dodge the zombies lurking along your route. If they grab the flag football style strips attached to you the infection makes you a zombie too. Complete the run without losing all three of your life strips and deduct a minute from your race time for each strip you maintain. Can you stay alive to make it to the finish line?

There are age group winner medals for the top times of those who survive the course. Plus, each runner gets a t-shirt and a Zombie Dash 5K survivor pint glass. Wow! This is a spooktacular event!

FRIGHTFUL 5K (Troy) -- SUNDAY OCT 23

Run along fabulous Big Beaver Road through the city of Troy's business district in your best Halloween costume. Wearing scary or funny costumes is highly encouraged. Registration includes a race t-shirt.

DAY OF THE DEAD 5K  (Lansing) -- SUNDAY OCT 23

The route follows Lansing’s beautiful scenic river trail near César E. Chávez Plaza in Old Town. Participants are encouraged to wear traditional Dia de los Muertos face paint, flowers and other attire. Every runner receives a participation medal and t-shirt.

TRICK OR TROT 5K (Sanford) -- SATURDAY OCT 29

This is a costume 5K with prizes awarded for the top finishers and best costumes. Participants receive medals, candy and a ticket for our raffle drawing of post-race prizes. Race shirts are an extra $5 added onto the registration fee.

WITCH'S HAT 5K (South Lyon) -- SATURDAY OCT 29

Annual Halloween themed costume run that starts and finishes at South Lyon High School.

HALLOWEEN HUSTLE (Harrison Twp) -- SUNDAY OCT 30

All participants will receive a finisher medal. Post race music, refreshments and fun await you at the finish line. Don't forget to wear your best Halloween attire for the costume contest! Friendly dogs and strollers are welcome. Awards to top 3 in each age group: 0-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-79, 80 and older.

Weave through the surrounding area at whatever pace you like, no matter what there’s a beer waiting for you at the finish line! What’s included?! All participants receive FREE craft brew from WITCH'S HAT; your choice of a collector’s pint glass or seasonal swag item from the Brewery Running Series; and chance to win sweet door prizes, like Brewery Running Series merchandise or a growler to take home.  Post-race games, goodies and giveaways.
