Along the way, they’ll fight off a crazed pirate clown, marines, fishmen, and a criminal syndicate — all while exploring islands full of unknown danger and fun! Oh, and did we mention, the crew’s most reliably unreliable narrator is the teller of this tale? MAKE SURE YOU'RE PROTECTED WHEN YOU'RE ON THE ROAD

Whenever you go out on the road, you want to make sure that you are as protected as possible. We understand that for some people they think that as long as they are in control of the vehicle, this makes them safe on the road, and this is true to an extent. Being present when you’re driving shouldn’t be negotiable, but even when you are there is still a chance that things could go wrong, and it’s important that you are as protected as possible.

So, let’s look at some of the ways that you can ensure you are safe and protected each time you get out on the road:

Safety Features On The Car

First, we’re going to look at safety features on the car. When you purchase your car, you want to make sure that it has as many safety features as possible as you’re going to be relying on them later down the line.

Make sure that you’re looking into all of them, otherwise you could be in trouble when something goes wrong out there. Most cars come with safety features as standard these days, but if there are any that you don’t have but do want, speak to the dealer before you purchase.

Insure Your Vehicle

Another thing that you should be doing is insuring your vehicle. Now, it’s actually illegal to drive without insurance on your vehicle, but even if we were to put that to the side, you need insurance anyway in case something happens to your car. You need to think about how much it could cost to fix your car, or the other persons, if you end up in an accident of some sort.

Insurance covers this if this happens, with you only having to pay the excess which is important, so you need to have this cover. Again, it’s illegal not to, so make sure that you do.

Roadside Assistance

Finally, we’re going to be taking a look at roadside assistance. When your car breaks down and you have no way to move it, you are going to need assistance to come and get you, but you don’t want to have to pay through the nose for this. As such, you should have Seat roadside assistance if this is your make, or whatever other roadside assistance policy you want to have.

As long as you have someone who is going to come and help you when you are stuck at the side of the road, and you’re not going to have to panic if your bank account is empty, that’s what matters.

I hope that you have found this article helpful, and now see some of the things that you should be doing to ensure that you are safe and protected when you are on the road. Take your time, and make sure that you go through each thing on this list, making sure that you have what you need before you get back in your vehicle and drive it again.

TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF TALLADEGA NIGHTS

One of the most quoted movies of the 2000s races back into theaters in celebration of its 20th anniversary! TALLADEGA NIGHTS: THE BALLAD OF RICKY BOBBY will have a three-night theatrical re-release at select locations across the United States on June 28, June 30 and July 1, 2026. Columbia Pictures invites audiences to revisit the world of stock car racing on the big screen in this action comedy starring Will Ferrell.

NASCAR stock car racing sensation Ricky Bobby (Will Ferrell) is a national hero because of his "win at all costs" approach. He and his loyal racing partner, childhood friend Cal Naughton Jr. (John C. Reilly), are a fearless duo -- known as "Thunder" and "Lightning" by their fans for their ability to finish so many races in the #1 and #2 positions, with Cal always in second place. When flamboyant French Formula One driver Jean Girard (Sacha Baron Cohen) challenges "Thunder" and "Lightning" for the supremacy of NASCAR, Ricky Bobby must face his own demons and fight Girard for the right to be known as racing's top driver.

This 2006 film is rated PG-13. This limited engagement release will not include any additional or enhanced footage or bonus content, but it will provide a chance to see a flick that many people have probably only seen on television as it was originally filmed to be seen on the silver screen of a movie theater. Shake & Bake! I'm looking forward to a family movie night at a theater to see this!

Disney Pixar HOPPERS Home Entertainment Release

If you’re looking for the next family movie night pick, I just watched with my wife and kids on moviesanywhere.com Disney Pixar’s HOPPERS which is an animated sci-fi themed slapstick comedy with a plot that addresses environmental issues which will leave you contemplating humanity's relationship with the planet. The story follows Mabel, a college student who "hops" her consciousness into a robotic beaver to infiltrate a colony and save their habitat from a mayor obsessed with building a freeway through the animals' home. It’s basically Avatar meets A Bug’s Life, but with a beaver king named George (voiced by the hilarious Bobby Moynihan) who absolutely steals the show instead of aliens and ants as the leading characters. My whole family really enjoyed HOPPERS!

For parents, there’s plenty to appreciate beyond the cute animals in this film. The animation is top-tier, and the voice cast — including Jon Hamm as the villainous Mayor Jerry and Meryl Streep as a formidable Insect Queen — enhances the story. I particularly loved the focus on Mabel’s connection to her grandmother, which grounds the high-tech sci-fi elements in a way many families can associate with their own relationships. The movie doesn't talk down to kids while tackling environmental stewardship without feeling like a lecture.

A quick "dad-to-dad" heads-up: while it’s rated PG, some scenes get surprisingly intense. There are a few "horror-lite" sequences and a chaotic third act featuring a terrifying "human hopper" robot controlled by an insect. If you have very little ones who are sensitive to jump scares or "creepy" imagery, be on guard! Otherwise, it is a fun flick that reminded me of why my family loves Pixar movies after some of the recent disappointing releases from the studio.

HOPPERS earned A Geek Daddy nod of approval for providing a fun, laugh filled family movie night. It is available to view now on digital platforms including Amazon Prime Video, Movies Anywhere, Apple TV, and Fandango @ Home. Plus, it will be available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD on June 2, 2026.

The home entertainment release of HOPPERS includes the following bonus content in addition to the featured motion picture:

• The Critter Diaries: Wander behind the scenes with director Daniel Chong and the Pixar creative team as they explore Yellowstone, study wildlife, and find real-life inspiration for our favorite new animated characters from Hoppers.
• Hopping In: The Making of Hoppers: Hop into the making of the movie as filmmakers, cast, and crew share how their ideas, collaboration, and creative process brought the story, animation, and lovable characters to life in Pixar’s Hoppers.
• "Meet King George" Scene Breakdown: Dive deep with director Daniel Chong and the filmmaking team as they reveal the craft of making King George’s Superlodge. Get insight into the directing process, editing, VFX, animation, and production design.
• Beaverton Revealed: Explore Hoppers to find surprising Pixar film cameos, hidden references, and plenty of fun, behind-the-scenes facts.
• Dam Good Bloopers: Laugh along with your favorite voice actors from Hoppers as they have fun bringing their characters to life in the recording booth.
• Deleted Scenes: Check out scenes that didn’t make the final cut, as introduced by director Daniel Chong and editor Axel Geddes.

Thank you to Walt Disney Studios for providing a complimentary Movies Anywhere code for HOPPERS to use for our family movie night. This doesn't cost you anything extra, ageekdaddy.com just has to give you the heads up for legal reasons. Click away!

BALANCING GAMING AND YOUR KIDS AS A BUSY DAD

If you want to try to game as a busy dad, then you will know how limited you can be on time sometimes. With that said, if you can try to set realistic goals, this can help you a lot. When life gets busy with things like school runs or even bedtime stories, trying to fit in a bit of time to game can be challenging, but with that said, if you can set some realistic goals from time to time, then this can help you more than you realize.

Make Family Time a Priority

Family time should come first at the end of the day, and gaming should never feel as though it’s taking time away from your important moments in life. That doesn’t mean that you should try to stop gaming completely, but it does mean that you have to be careful about how often you play. A good way to work around this would be for you to try to schedule gaming sessions around family time and family activities. You also need to try to make sure that you are not missing out on any activities that you could be doing to try to unwind. It may be that you make a habit of gaming after your movie night has ended, as it means that you can relax while everyone is winding down. Of course, doing this also means you’re not always pulling away from the people you love to do what you want, and it also means your family is getting to spend a bit of quality time with you, which is great.

Trying Shorter Games

If you don’t have time to play RPGs all the time, then another thing you can do is try shorter games. Trying shorter games is a good way for you to try and make sure that you’re not only getting the result you need out of the time you have. If you want a good starting point with gaming, then it could be worth exploring online games you might not have tried before. JP88 Official has a range of casino games available, and when you give them a go for yourself, you will soon find that it’s very easy for you to let go a little while potentially winning some money. You can also sit at blackjack tables and feel like you’re with other people, due to the setup of the game. This is a great way for you to see what else is out there.

Set up the Right Space

Another thing you need to do is try to set up the right space. You need to make sure that you are setting something up for the whole family, and you also need to make sure that you have somewhere comfortable to relax and play whenever you need a bit of space. If you can keep this in mind, then you will find that it’s easier than ever to not only get the result you need, but to try and relax while doing it.

FEATURE COMMENTARY WITH WRITER/DIRECTOR CRAIG BREWER

HEALTHY HABITS TO ADOPT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

There are certain things you end up doing every day without really thinking about them, and after a while they just become part of how your day works, like when you eat, how often you move around, what you do in the evening, and even your morning routine, for example. And it’s actually only when something feels a bit off that you start thinking about what you’re doing and wondering whether there might be a better - perhaps healthier - way. With that in mind, here are some options to help you get started with new healthy habits you can adopt as soon as possible.

The First Hour of the Day

The way your day begins can have a proper impact on everything that follows, so if you want to have a good day (as far as possible), then you need to have a good start. The fact is, if you’re in a rush, thinking you’ve forgotten things, and feeling stressed, that’s the feeling that’s going to stay with you until you finally get to rest in the evening, but if you are calmer and less stressed, you’ll be calmer and less stressed all day.

That’s why it’s wise to give yourself a bit more time at the start of the day, even if it means getting up a little bit earlier (and we’re only talking 10 minutes or so, so it’s not too much of a chore). That way, you can drink your coffee in peace, do a little exercise, have a nice shower, watch the sun rise, or anything else you want to do without feeling rushed.

Eat Better

Food can become something you either overthink or totally ignore, and neither of those options are particularly good ones - they’re definitely not sustainable.

It’s actually usually easier when the meals you’re having fit around your life rather than the other way around, because it means you’ll end up eating regularly, choosing food that keeps you going, and not having to think about it too much apart from that.

Add Some Sensible Exercise

Some days you’ll have the time and energy to do more, and some days you won’t - and that’s fine. The key is to do something, no matter how small it might be, and then you’ll know you did your best and you won’t feel guilty.

You could walk somewhere instead of driving, for example, do some stretching while you’re waiting for the kettle to boil, or even just get up and walk around after you’ve been sitting for a while. And if you’ve got more time and energy, you can go for a run, go to a class, or go to the gym - it’s really going to depend on your day and how you feel, but doing something is better than nothing.

Wind Down in the Evening

You need to ensure that your evenings become a time you can really wind down and end the day properly - that way you’ll sleep better and feel a lot more refreshed the next day.

One way to make sure that happens is to do something that signals to your brain that you’re done for the day, like turning off your notifications, drinking a hot milky drink or some herbal tea, reading, or using CBD gummies for sleep as part of your routine. That way, it’s a lot easier to settle down and relax because your body and brain will know it’s time to stop working.

How Modern Technology Makes Outdoor Activities So Much More Exciting

Anyone who regularly spends time in the great outdoors knows how much of a wonderful time it is. Technology is reshaping how people approach these adventures, though. Instead of making things more complicated, innovative tech is making things more convenient and exciting. There are tools available that enhance awareness and reduce tediousness. This modern shift helps people to become more capable and engaged while spending time in nature. There are a few ways modern technology is making outdoor activities significantly more exciting:

Real-Time Technology For Awareness

If you can use gadgets that amplify what you can see and track, the entire experience will feel more thrilling. Smart optics and sensor tools can help you capture moments while staying immersed in the terrain. Live data can also be useful in terms of helping you with decision-making. They can provide you with information about altitudes, weather shifts, and the roots you plan on heading down. You learn to adapt quickly and explore with more confidence. Simple outings become dynamic experiences with these tools constantly watching over you. Your attention stays sharp, and you feel more energetic from start to finish. You are given the opportunity to experiment with different ideas without adding too much complexity or finding yourself distracted.

Communication Gear That Keeps Up Momentum

Technology lifts excitement by making communication a lot clearer and easier. With seamless coordination, groups can share experiences and move a lot faster. Momentum doesn’t have to be broken up every now and again. Some advanced gear, like helmet-mounted audio systems and headset adapters, will now integrate communication directly into headgear. Equipment, such as the IHPS headset rail adapter, allows you to attach compatible headsets to helmet rails, maintaining steadiness and freedom. Communication should always feel effortless; it shouldn’t be a struggle to get your message across. When this is the case, outdoor activities become much faster and more dynamic. Instructions and warnings will flow naturally, and everyone will be more engaged. Every single person can stay immersed in movement, as they will not have to pause to coordinate. Frustration is reduced significantly, and the entire experience becomes a lot more enjoyable.

Performance Tech

The outdoor technology we have today can also reduce limits on endurance and recovery. The more we are able to do, the more excitement there is. Smart wearables and adaptive gear can help us to push further. This is all while staying responsive to environmental demands around us. With real-time metrics, we can remove guesswork and gut instinct and turn to actual feedback. Heart rate monitors and recovery tips can be extremely useful. Movement efficiency data can also be available to make progress visible. With these kinds of tools, people can improve their technique and experiment with the way they are moving outdoors. Technology injects more excitement into outings by improving awareness and comfort levels. Fatigue stops being scary and becomes more manageable. Goals feel more attainable. Nearly 30 years after the original arcade release, the RAIDEN FIGHTERS video game series is now set to make an epic return on modern consoles, thanks to the ongoing push to make it happen from a devoted fanbase. H2 Interactive will release the 2D shooting games originally developed by ‘MOSS Co., Ltd.’ in a collection called "Raiden Fighters Remix Collection for PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch on February 26th, 2026. It includes both the Japanese and international versions of the ‘Raiden Fighters Trilogy’ — ‘Raiden Fighters’, ‘Raiden Fighters 2’, and ‘Raiden Fighters Jet’.

The ‘Raiden Fighters’ series, first released in the 1990s, is an enduring classic that fascinated gamers with its pixel graphics, high-tempo, intense sound effects, and intricately designed scoring system. Now these games are being updated with some modern touches that include:

Retry Feature: A feature that allows players to return to the beginning of a stage has been newly added, which significantly improves the player’s efficiency.

Beginner-Friendly Feature: A special mode has been added in which enemies do not fire bullets at the player, making the game more accessible to newcomers.

Settings Customization Feature: Players can start the game with their preferred settings pre-configured, allowing for a more personalized and convenient gameplay experience.

BGM Customization Feature: Players can customize the background music for each stage, with a wide selection of newly remixed tracks also included.

The three titles included in ‘Raiden Fighters Remix Collection’ — ‘Raiden Fighters Remix’, ‘Raiden Fighters 2 Remix’, and ‘Raiden Fighters Jet Remix’ — will be available individually through the PlayStation Store and Nintendo Online Store. In addition, the complete three-title bundle, ‘Raiden Fighters Remix Collection’, will be released in both standard physical and limited editions.

PREP AND LANDING THE SNOWBALL PROTOCOL

Here's an early Christmas present for fans of the Prep & Landing animated shows ... a brand new holiday special is being released on Thanksgiving Day! My family LOVES the three previously released Prep & Landing Christmas specials about the funny hijinks of elves helping Santa and have been bummed that new ones haven't been released since the last one in 2011. Well now the wait is over!

The elves a returning in “Prep & Landing: The Snowball Protocol,” a brand-new Christmas special that will reach families everywhere across Disney+, Disney Channel, ABC and Freeform. Debuting Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, on Disney Channel at 7:00 p.m. EST/PST, and available the next day on Disney+, later in the season the elves will make their way to ABC and then to Freeform’s iconic “25 Days of Christmas” holiday programming event.

Marking the franchise’s return after more than a decade, “Prep & Landing: The Snowball Protocol” is the fourth installment in a series of popular animated holiday specials featuring Christmas elves from an elite organization tasked with preparing homes worldwide for Santa’s arrival. The new special follows Christmas elves Lanny and Wayne, whose holiday mission goes awry, leaving Wayne convinced he’s in major trouble with Santa and accidentally revealing other merry mishaps. Magee, the North Pole Christmas Eve Command Center Coordinator and lover of eggnog lattes, brings along her pet arctic seal pup Nog to the office — kicking off endless hijinks.

Original voice cast reuniting for the special include Dave Foley as Wayne, a world-weary but dedicated Prep & Landing elf, alongside Sarah Chalke as Magee, the ambitious and eggnog latte-obsessed Command Center Coordinator, and Derek Richardson as Lanny, Wayne’s loyal friend and ever-agreeable partner. They will be joined by new cast members Manny Jacinto as Renato, the most sought-after massage therapist and holistic healer in the North Pole; Dulcé Sloan as Janice, a clerk at the North Pole Post Office; and Danny Pudi as Chef Geoff, the master chef at the Fruitcake Factory. Rounding out the cast is Christopher Swindle as The Big Guy, a.k.a. Santa.

If you want to check out the previous specials “Prep & Landing” (2009), “Prep & Landing: Operation: Secret Santa” (2010), and “Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice” (2011) they are currently available to stream on Disney+. I am so GEEKED to see Prep & Landing: The Snowball Protocol!
