STAR TREK 60TH ANNIVERSARY AT MOTOR CITY COMIC CON

2026 marks the 60th anniversary of the origination of Star Trek based upon the first airing of the television series on the NBC network in 1966 that followed the crew of the starship Enterprise during its five-year mission to explore deep space. That original Star Trek series has since spawned 12 more television shows and 13 theatrical movies in what has become a beloved sci-fi franchise. In celebration of Star Trek's 60th Anniversary, a number of celebrities from the franchise, including the first captain of the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) James T. Kirk portrayed by William Shatner, will be appearing at the Spring Edition of this year's Motor City Comic Con taking place May 15 - 17, 2026. SUPERMAN AND LOIS APPEARANCE AT MOTOR CITY COMIC CON

Fans of the CW television network's Arrowverse shows based on DC Comics characters will want to head to Novi, Michigan's Vibe Credit Union Showplace for this year's Spring edition of the Motor City Comic Con taking place May 15 - 17, 2026. HEALTHY HABITS TO ADOPT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

There are certain things you end up doing every day without really thinking about them, and after a while they just become part of how your day works, like when you eat, how often you move around, what you do in the evening, and even your morning routine, for example. And it’s actually only when something feels a bit off that you start thinking about what you’re doing and wondering whether there might be a better - perhaps healthier - way. With that in mind, here are some options to help you get started with new healthy habits you can adopt as soon as possible.

The First Hour of the Day 

The way your day begins can have a proper impact on everything that follows, so if you want to have a good day (as far as possible), then you need to have a good start. The fact is, if you’re in a rush, thinking you’ve forgotten things, and feeling stressed, that’s the feeling that’s going to stay with you until you finally get to rest in the evening, but if you are calmer and less stressed, you’ll be calmer and less stressed all day.

That’s why it’s wise to give yourself a bit more time at the start of the day, even if it means getting up a little bit earlier (and we’re only talking 10 minutes or so, so it’s not too much of a chore). That way, you can drink your coffee in peace, do a little exercise, have a nice shower, watch the sun rise, or anything else you want to do without feeling rushed.

Eat Better 

Food can become something you either overthink or totally ignore, and neither of those options are particularly good ones - they’re definitely not sustainable. 

It’s actually usually easier when the meals you’re having fit around your life rather than the other way around, because it means you’ll end up eating regularly, choosing food that keeps you going, and not having to think about it too much apart from that.

Nearly 30 years after the original arcade release, the RAIDEN FIGHTERS video game series is now set to make an epic return on modern consoles, thanks to the ongoing push to make it happen from a devoted fanbase. H2 Interactive will release the 2D shooting games originally developed by ‘MOSS Co., Ltd.’ in a collection called "Raiden Fighters Remix Collection for PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch on February 26th, 2026. It includes both the Japanese and international versions of the ‘Raiden Fighters Trilogy’ — ‘Raiden Fighters’, ‘Raiden Fighters 2’, and ‘Raiden Fighters Jet’.

PREP AND LANDING THE SNOWBALL PROTOCOL

Here's an early Christmas present for fans of the Prep & Landing animated shows ... a brand new holiday special is being released on Thanksgiving Day! My family LOVES the three previously released Prep & Landing Christmas specials about the funny hijinks of elves helping Santa and have been bummed that new ones haven't been released since the last one in 2011. Well now the wait is over!

The elves a returning in “Prep & Landing: The Snowball Protocol,” a brand-new Christmas special that will reach families everywhere across Disney+, Disney Channel, ABC and Freeform. DIRECTORS CUT OF KINGDOM OF HEAVEN BEING RELEASED IN 4K

The grit and drama of Ridley Scott’s epic Kingdom of Heaven makes history come alive again when it plays out in a Directors Cut edition being released in 4K high definition. The Kingdom of Heaven Directors Cut will be available from digital retailers (Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home) and on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc on May 27, 2025. LOONEY TUNES BREAKFAST AT EMAGINE THEATRES

Each month, Emagine hosts a Breakfast and a Movie showing, at select theaters, of one of the newest family-film releases. The breakfast and a movie screening package will include a full breakfast buffet, a 44oz. popcorn, and a 21oz fountain drink as well as a ticket to the showing for $24 for children and $30 for adults.  The special presentation for March will be the new Looney Tunes movie THE DAY THE EARTH BLEW UP a PG-rated family-friendly spoof of 1950s era sci-fi flicks. FLASH GORDON MOVIE SCREENING WITH SAM JONES

Detroit area sci-fi fans won't want to miss out on this! In advance of his appearance at this year's Great Lakes Comic Con, Sam J. Jones who portrayed the lead character in FLASH GORDON (1980) will be participating in a special screening of the movie on Thursday, February 20 at Patridge Creek's MJR theatre in Clinton Twp. The event begins at 7 pm and should wrap up around 9:30 pm.

Sam J. Jones will introduce the movie, then after the movie there will be a brief Q and A with him. Autographs or photo-ops are not included with this movie night. Sam J. Jones will then be at the Great Lakes Comic-Con, February 21-23, 2025 for photo and autograph opportunities. The movie night does not include admission to the Great Lakes Comic-Con. MANDOVERSE DROID PERFORMER COMING TO MOTOR CITY COMIC CON

Fans of the Disney+ Star Wars: The Mandalorian and its spinoff shows on the streaming service will be GEEKED to know that Chris Bartlett who is known for portraying droids within the "Mandoverse" will be a guest at the Spring edition of the Motor City Comic Con taking place May 16-18, 2025 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan. He's known for playing the acting role of robotic characters known as droids and actually builds the costumes himself he wears for the productions. Anybody who is into cosplay has to love this guy!

Chris Bartlett has taken on the role of a number of different droids in a variety of The Mandalorian episodes as well as made appearances in Ahsoka and The Book of Boba Fett. One of the most popular Star Wars appearances by Bartlett has been as Q9-0 a protocol droid turned mercenary in the first season of The Mandalorian. He also has taken on one of the most iconic roles within the Star Wars galaxy as C-3P0 in Disney+ Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Chris Bartlett will be appearing all three days of Motor City Comic Con (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
