FIRST GUESTS OF FALL 2026 MOTOR CITY COMIC CON ANNOUNCED

The first guests who will be participating in autographs, photo ops and fan panel discussions at the next Motor City Comic Con taking place November 13-15, 2026 at the Vibe Credit Union Showplace in Novi, Michigan have been announced. Jake Weary and Shawn Hatosy from the hit TNT crime drama television series ANIMAL KINGDOM will be appearing at the Fall 2026 event. Motor City Comic Con (MC3), which runs each Spring and Fall, is Michigan’s largest and longest running pop culture convention.

Jake Weary is best known for his role as Deran Cody on Animal Kingdom, where he starred for six seasons alongside Shawn Hatosy. Most recently, he appeared in Netflix's The Waterfront. His film credits include Finding Steve McQueen, It Chapter Two, and the cult-favorite horror film It Follows. His television work also includes appearances in Dead City, Chicago Fire, and Pretty Little Liars.

STAR TREK 60TH ANNIVERSARY AT MOTOR CITY COMIC CON

2026 marks the 60th anniversary of the origination of Star Trek based upon the first airing of the television series on the NBC network in 1966 that followed the crew of the starship Enterprise during its five-year mission to explore deep space. That original Star Trek series has since spawned 12 more television shows and 13 theatrical movies in what has become a beloved sci-fi franchise. In celebration of Star Trek's 60th Anniversary, a number of celebrities from the franchise, including the first captain of the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) James T. Kirk portrayed by William Shatner, will be appearing at the Spring Edition of this year's Motor City Comic Con taking place May 15 - 17, 2026. SUPERMAN AND LOIS APPEARANCE AT MOTOR CITY COMIC CON

Fans of the CW television network's Arrowverse shows based on DC Comics characters will want to head to Novi, Michigan's Vibe Credit Union Showplace for this year's Spring edition of the Motor City Comic Con taking place May 15 - 17, 2026. The event will feature appearances by Tyler Hoechlin (Clark Kent) and Elizabeth Tulloch (Lois Lane) from the Arrowverse's Superman & Lois tv series. Both actors will be appearing on Saturday May 16 and Sunday May 17 for autographs and photo ops as well as appearing in a panel discussion about their experiences on Superman & Lois.

STARSHIPS TROOPERS CAST REUNION AT MOTOR CITY COMIC CON

Are you a fan of sci-fi flicks? If so, you may be geeked to learn that several members of the cast of the 1997 film STARSHIP TROOPERS will be reuniting during the Motor City Comic Con taking place November 14 - 16, 2025 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan. Appearing at Motor City Comic Con from the STARSHIP TROOPERS cast for a free panel discussion open to attendees with admission to the show as well as providing autographs and photo ops for an additional fee will be Casper Van Dien, Dina Meyer, Michael Ironside and Amy Smart.

STARSHIP TROOPERS is based on the 1959 novel by Robert A. Heinlein which pits the Earth's United Citizen Federation in a struggle against alien insectoid creatures that are pushing back against human colonization efforts into the depths of space. Van Dien's character, Johnny Rico, is a high school sports star who enlists in the Federation's infantry upon graduating for a chance to join in the battle against the "bugs" and earn citizenship.  Ricco's high school friend, Dizzy Flores (Dina Meyer) also enters the military to stay close to him. The two find that a former teacher of theirs, Jean Rasczak (Michael Ironside) has been motivated by alien attacks to also enlist and shall be their squad leader. Rounding out the cast appearing at Motor City Comic Con is Amy Smart who portrays a pilot cadet who helps ferry the infantry to the battlegrounds where they confront arachnoid adversaries. While initially considered a box office flop, STARSHIP TROOPERS has developed a reputation over the years as a cult classic for fans of science fiction movies.

All four actors will be appearing the full three days of the event (Friday, Nov 14 / Saturday, Nov 15 / Sunday, Nov 16). MANDOVERSE DROID PERFORMER COMING TO MOTOR CITY COMIC CON

Fans of the Disney+ Star Wars: The Mandalorian and its spinoff shows on the streaming service will be GEEKED to know that Chris Bartlett who is known for portraying droids within the "Mandoverse" will be a guest at the Spring edition of the Motor City Comic Con taking place May 16-18, 2025 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan. He's known for playing the acting role of robotic characters known as droids and actually builds the costumes himself he wears for the productions. Anybody who is into cosplay has to love this guy!

Chris Bartlett has taken on the role of a number of different droids in a variety of The Mandalorian episodes as well as made appearances in Ahsoka and The Book of Boba Fett. One of the most popular Star Wars appearances by Bartlett has been as Q9-0 a protocol droid turned mercenary in the first season of The Mandalorian. He also has taken on one of the most iconic roles within the Star Wars galaxy as C-3P0 in Disney+ Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi.

MOTOR CITY COMIC CON SCREENING OF JURASSIC PARK WITH SPECIAL GUEST APPEARANCE

Motor City Comic Con will be hosting a special screening event of the 1993 movie JURASSIC PARK at Emagine Novi on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 8pm featuring Wayne Knight from the movie. Knight will make a special guest appearance and host a Q&A panel discussion in Emagine’s Super EMX auditorium, where each attendee will also receive a commemorative badge and exclusive artwork, along with a ticket to attend the screening of Jurassic Park following the panel. Admission to Motor City Comic Con is not included in this add-on ticketed event, however it is required to attend as this is a special event opportunity only available to Motor City Comic Con guests. There is an additional fee of $40 beyond the Motor City Comic Con admission price to participate in the Wayne Knight Jurassic Park screening.

In addition to his role playing Nerdy in Jurassic Park, Knight is known for comedic performances as Newman on the TV sitcom Seinfeld and as Officer Don Orville on 3rd Rock From The Sun and has been in several movies some including Space Jam, JFK, and Rat Race. 1996's TWISTER is one of those movies that no matter how many times I've seen it if it pops up on television while channel surfing I'll find myself watching it one more time. This action adventure about tornado chasers that has a personable cast and decent musical soundtrack my not be one of the best movies produced by Hollywood yet it has established itself as one of my favorites. From 1992-1999 she starred in the sitcom Mad About You, alongside co-star Paul Reiser, where she won four Emmy Awards for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She also starred in the film Twister alongside Bill Paxton, which released in 1996 and then she went on to win an Academy Award for Best Actress in the 1997 film, As Good As It Gets. She continues to act and expanded her accolades to include film director with her directorial debut of the movie, Then She Found Me.

In Twister, Bill (Bill Paxton) and Jo Harding (Helen Hunt) are advance storm chasers on the brink of divorce, and they must join together to create an advanced weather alert system by putting themselves in the crosshairs of extremely violent tornadoes. Twister was the second highest grossing movie in 1996.

CELEBRITIES VISITING DETROIT FOR SPRING COMIC CON EVENT

Motor City Comic Con, one of the largest conventions in the Midwest, takes place yearly in both the Spring and the Fall at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan. This year's Spring event is May 17 - 19, 2024.Throughout the three-day weekend attendees can participate in autographs and photo opportunities with fan favorite actors and actresses from movies and tv. Attendees can also participate in various panel discussions, attractions, events, and explore various exhibitors. Artists, writers, and illustrators will also be featured throughout Artist Alley over the three-day convention. In addition, there will be venders offering a variety of merchandise including comics, toys, art, unique jewelry, clothing, memorabilia and much more! 

Here are some of the celebrities scheduled to be in attendance at the 2024 Spring Motor City Comic Con. Be aware that meet and greet opportunities with the show's celebrity guests often involve an extra fee beyond your admission to the event. If you purchase an autograph, note that many of these people will also require more money if you want to get a selfie with them at that time too. Professional photo ops also are offered for many of the celebrities in attendance and can be a nice souvenir where you don't have to worry about handing your phone to someone to take the picture for you. William Shatner 

Best known for his portrayal of James T. Kirk in the Star Trek franchise. MOTOR CITY COMIC CON RETURNS IN NOVEMBER

Motor City Comic Con (MC3) returns to Metro Detroit on November 10-12, 2023 at the Suburban Collection Showplace located at 46100 Grand River Ave. in Novi, Michigan. MC3 gathers comic book and multimedia dealers from across the country, offering a vast variety of pop-culture merchandise, including comics, art, t-shirts, movie memorabilia, posters and more. Over 250 comic book creators, writers and artists are featured at MC3 each year, as well as actors from the television and movie industry. Highlights of this Fall's event include appearance by Karate Kid / Cobra Kai actors Ralph Macchio, William Zabka and Xolo Mariduena; Star Trek alum Walter Koenig; Star Wars' Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams); and the star of one of my favorite TV series ED, Tom Cavanagh. 

Any good con is filled with fans decked out in creative costumes and people watching won't have you disappointed at MC3. If you are inclined to dress up yourself, there is a Cosplay contest for those 13+ taking place on Saturday, November 13 at 6:30 pm.  Spots are limited and will fill up quickly. Prizing will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners. Prizing includes $125, $250, and $500 winnings as well as Comic Con passes, Autographed Photos, and MC3 Exclusive goodies.

DC FANDOME

Mid-spring through late Fall is Con season. Fans of superheroes and sci-fi attend a variety of events across the country and around the world that let them interact with artists behind comic books and actors from movies and television shows. Autograph sessions, photo ops, cosplay contests, prop exhibits, informational panels, and sneak peeks of upcoming projects are just a few examples of the activities that attract thousands of people to these conventions each year. From the humongous Comic Con that takes place in San Diego to the relatively modest Motor City version hosted in suburban Detroit these events range from huge international publicity machines to local affairs that let attendees have fun cosplaying for a weekend. Unfortunately, with the coronavirus pandemic these events that congregate crowds in tight indoor spaces have been put on hold this year. All hope isn't lost though! DC Comics has just announced they are hosting their own FREE online comic con. DC FanDome will provide a virtual fan experience on Saturday, August 20, 2020. Starting at 10 am (Pacific Time), visitors to DCFanDome.com will be immersed into the DC Multiverse, with new announcements from Warner Bros. Games, Film, TV, and Comics divisions. The online presentations will also provide an opportunity to hear news from the casts and creators behind fan favorite comic books, feature films and TV series.

There will also be a chance for fans to show off their own artistic and cosplay talents. In partnership with Talenthouse, DC FanDome wants people to submit their best DC Fan Art & Fandom displays. Share with them your DC Cosplay, Makeup, Tattoos, even your own Batcave!
