2026 marks the 60th anniversary of the origination of Star Trek based upon the first airing of the television series on the NBC network in 1966 that followed the crew of the starship Enterprise during its five-year mission to explore deep space. That original Star Trek series has since spawned 12 more television shows and 13 theatrical movies in what has become a beloved sci-fi franchise. In celebration of Star Trek's 60th Anniversary, a number of celebrities from the franchise, including the first captain of the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) James T. Kirk portrayed by William Shatner, will be appearing at the Spring Edition of this year's Motor City Comic Con taking place May 15 - 17, 2026. In addition to William Shatner, also appearing will be Jonathan Frakes (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Brent Spiner (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Karl Urban (Kelvin Timeline Star Trek movies) and Simon Pegg (Kelvin Timeline Star Trek movies).
Motor City Comic Con, which runs each Spring and Fall, is Michigan’s largest and longest running pop culture convention. The event which began in 1989, will be taking place at the Vibe Credit Union Showplace, previously the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, MI. Motor City Comic Con is known as one of the premier conventions in the United States for enjoying pop culture and artistic creativity.
