Nearly 30 years after the original arcade release, the RAIDEN FIGHTERS video game series is now set to make an epic return on modern consoles, thanks to the ongoing push to make it happen from a devoted fanbase. H2 Interactive will release the 2D shooting games originally developed by ‘MOSS Co., Ltd.’ in a collection called "Raiden Fighters Remix Collection for PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch on February 26th, 2026. It includes both the Japanese and international versions of the ‘Raiden Fighters Trilogy’ — ‘Raiden Fighters’, ‘Raiden Fighters 2’, and ‘Raiden Fighters Jet’.
The ‘Raiden Fighters’ series, first released in the 1990s, is an enduring classic that fascinated gamers with its pixel graphics, high-tempo, intense sound effects, and intricately designed scoring system. Now these games are being updated with some modern touches that include:
Retry Feature: A feature that allows players to return to the beginning of a stage has been newly added, which significantly improves the player’s efficiency.
Beginner-Friendly Feature: A special mode has been added in which enemies do not fire bullets at the player, making the game more accessible to newcomers.
Settings Customization Feature: Players can start the game with their preferred settings pre-configured, allowing for a more personalized and convenient gameplay experience.
BGM Customization Feature: Players can customize the background music for each stage, with a wide selection of newly remixed tracks also included.
The three titles included in ‘Raiden Fighters Remix Collection’ — ‘Raiden Fighters Remix’, ‘Raiden Fighters 2 Remix’, and ‘Raiden Fighters Jet Remix’ — will be available individually through the PlayStation Store and Nintendo Online Store. From French-based video game publisher Microids comes THE SMURFS: DREAMS which allows players to pretend they've stepped into the cartoon adventures of the tiny blue gnomes who live in mushroom homes hidden away within a magical forest. Thanks to Nintendo for gearing me up for MARIO KART 8 DELUXE by providing me with the video game, its Booster Course Pass DLC and a racing jacket to show off my being a Nintendo Dad. I appreciate Nintendo including me in a who's who of "dad bloggers" to participate in their DADS PLAY TOO event. This was an online hang out where the company's marketing team highlighted the gameplay and engaged in Q&A for recent and upcoming Nintendo Switch releases. Then we engaged in a DADS ONLY Splatoon 3 tournament.
Growing up in the era of rotary dial telephones and Atari 2600 gaming consoles, the technological advances of easily video conferencing on Zoom and playing Splatoon 3 against people located across the country during this Dad's Night In made me feel both very old as well as brought out the youthful exuberance of my inner kid at heart. In the interested of total disclosure, I did have to have my teenage son provide a bit of IT support to get me up and going for the Splatoon battle. Doah! I hated to admit that.
Nintendo hooked me up for the event sending Splatoon 3, gaming headphone and their idea of a dad cap my way. They also provided me a Nintendo Switch Online subscription so I could connect with the other guys participating in this Dads Night In event to play Splatoon 3 online. I was GEEKED to learn more about a variety of Nintendo Switch games and have fun playing against competitors who were far less competitive and more my own speed then the teenagers who live in my house and their friends who quickly blow me away when I jump in on their Fortnite games with them. Wow, I really am starting to sound like my dad!

I have fond memories from my childhood of waking up early on Sunday mornings to watch on tv with my father the black and white reruns of shows that originally aired when he was a kid. Abbott & Costello, Little Rascals, The Lone Ranger and Zorro. Just as my kids have an appreciation of Star Wars from watching animated series set in a galaxy far, far away with me, I am a fan of Zorro from enjoying the 1957 television show starring Guy Williams with my dad on those Sunday mornings. My mom still has pictures to blackmail me with of my wearing a bandit mask she picked up at the Ben Franklin Five & Dime and holding my sister's dance baton as a sword pretending to be that mysterious swashbuckler.

Ok I guess my kids have time now to play a video game SEGA sent us to try out. The twins are having a great time playing this kart-style video game Team Sonic Racing on our family's Xbox One. It lets players speed through the arcade world of Sonic the Hedgehog in fast-paced racing action. Team Sonic Racing incorporates a lot of the features that has made Mario Kart a popular video game but goes beyond Nintendo's go karts with players able to have their favorite characters from the Sonic Universe zoom around in Grand Prix inspired race cars.
Pick your favorite Sonic the Hedgehog character, customize the color scheme of its car and get racing! As you accomplish goals and win races, players can then enhance their cars to power them up by adding different performance parts. The more a car is tinkered with the faster it will go and better it will handle helping you zoom through courses.
While you may want to select a character to race just because he or she may be a favorite of yours, it is also important to understand each of the fifteen characters available to play all have one of 3 racing attributes. These are SPEED, TECHNIQUE or POWER. A character's attribute can give the driver an edge in different circumstances as they race through the video game's 21 different tracks. For example, technique drivers can drive off-road over rough surfaces like grass without slowing down which can be a real benefit for players who have a hard time navigating curves and turns on tracks.
You can get up to twelve friends together to race at the same time through the video game's online capabilities or up to four players can join in from the same console or PC with its split screen feature. Developed by Sumo Digital, Team Sonic Racing is available to play via Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and STEAM. There are a variety of game modes providing different ways to play Team Sonic Racing. These include Grand Prix where racers compete to earn points, Time Trial where the fastest time wins, and Exhibition which allows players to actually customize race rules. There is also a story-driven mode called Team Adventure.
What really differentiates Team Sonic Racing from other kart-style racing video games though is that there is a focus on cooperative play. Team is a very important element of Team Sonic Racing. Participants in races are divided into teams of three (which can be either live or AI driven cars) and instead of winning races by simply finishing first, teams earn victories based upon how they worked together. Bump opponents cars or help a teammate achieve a task to get ahead.
So there can be up to four teams of three with there being 12 cars in each race. We've played with my wife, son, daughter and I each having our own team complimented with AI cars. The kids have played together on one team with the third car AI as well as those in the competing teams. They also have played against one another with the other two cars in each of their teams AI driven. I've also played with them on the same team so that all the cars were controlled by people racing against AI opponents. There are lots of different ways for people to team up as well as compete against one another in this fun racing game.

My kids have been looking forward all year long to The LEGO Ninjago Movie arriving in theaters. So they were ecstatic when after going to see the film on its opening weekend, I surprised them with The LEGO Ninjago Movie video game when we arrived home from the theater. The twins loved playing the game so much it was really hard pulling them away from it when bedtime rolled around. With movie quality graphics and an impressive variety of ninja moves that players can utilize while controlling their favorite LEGO NINJAGO heroes this game absolutely gets A Geek Daddy nod of approval.
The video game allows players to battle against Lord Garmadon and his Shark Army as their favorite NINJAGO heroes: Lloyd, Nya, Jay, Kai, Cole, Zane and Master Wu. Learning and mastering martial arts moves such as Rushing Boar (a dash attack to charge an enemy), Floating Butterfly (a jumping lunge attack that allows a ninja to leap at a foe from above), Swooping Hawk (a jump slam attack) and Stinging Bee (a flurry of stinging strikes against an opponent). Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment along with TT Games and The LEGO Group have just announced that a The LEGO NINJAGO Movie video game will be released in conjunction with the upcoming theatrical film. The game licensed by The LEGO Group to be developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will be available on September 22, 2017, the same day as the movie opens in theaters across the United States, for Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
In the game, players battle their way through waves of enemies with honor and skill as their favorite ninjas Lloyd, Nya, Kai, Cole, Zane and Master Wu to defend their home island of Ninjago from the evil Lord Garmadon and his Shark Army. To do so, they must master the art of Ninjagility which allows them to traverse Ninjago by wall-running, high jumping, and battling foes of Ninjago to rank up and upgrade the ninja's combat skills. Players can harness the power of Spinjitzu combat to defend Ninjago together.
The game features eight large, action-packed locations based on the story from The LEGO NINJAGO Movie. Each location includes its own unique Challenger Dojo where players can put their combat skills to the test and battle with increasingly tougher enemies. And with Battle Maps, players can go up against their friends and family in four different game modes, with competitive split-screen local gameplay for up to four players.

My kids and I have been having a good time playing the new Cars 3: Driven to Win video game that features racing competitions with characters and locations from all three of the Disney PIXAR Cars movies. The controls are easy enough to use so that young kids can comfortably play the game without getting frustrated or overwhelmed yet it is also challenging enough so that adult will enjoy participating in the races as well. With the ability for four players to race against one another at the same time in split screen head-to-head action it is really easy to get the whole family engaged in competing against one another.Perfect for a weekend game night, Cars 3: Driven to Win is a video game families can have a lot of fun playing together.
The setting for the video game takes place after the final big race in Cars 3. Note there are some spoilers in the game if you haven't already seen the movie. Based upon its game play and great graphics though, you'll have an entertaining time playing it even if you've never seen a Cars movie. Is there anyone out there who has never seen a Disney PIXAR Cars movie?
Cars 3: Driven to Win includes a variety of customizable playable characters including Lightning McQueen, Mater, Mack, Cruz Ramirez and Jackson Storm. Some of the characters are playable right away and others need to be unlocked by winning races, completing stunts and achieving a variety of objectives as you progress through the game. Cars 3: Driven to Win also features 20 unique tracks that highlight 13 iconic race environments from the Cars movies.
There are six exciting modes of game play in Cars 3: Driven to Win. The variety of racing options keeps the game interesting for repetitive play. Nintendo's newest gaming console, SWITCH, is launching on March 3, 2017. This next generation gaming system has been designed to provide flexibility in where its users can play the device in today's mobile society. Connect the device to a docking station that allows game play on television screens as video game consoles have traditionally done or take it with you on the go as a mobile device. It's new adaptable Joy-Con grips start off as a traditional-style stand-alone controller for a single user playing games on a television, can be broken in two and held in each hand for motion controlled game play similar to Wii nunchuks or can be divided to be used by two competing players in multi-player games. Plus Joy-Con grips can be attached to either side of the console to support handheld play when using the Switch as a mobile gaming system.
