There has been a lot of fanfare about The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman obtaining the comic book publishing rights through his Skybound entertainment company for G.I. Joe and Transformers in what is being dubbed the creation of an Energon Universe. Did you know though that Skybound is also reinvesting in its horror roots by obtaining the comic book publishing rights for Universal Pictures classic monsters? Just in time for Halloween UNIVERSAL MONSTERS: DRACULA is being released by Skybound.
Inspired by Universal Pictures’ 1931 film, Eisner Award-winning writer James Tynion IV and artist Martin Simmonds delve into the darkest corners of Dracula’s timeless narrative. In addition to Dracula himself, this series features popular characters from the classic Bela Lugosi starring film, including R.M. Renfield, Mina Seward, Doctor John Seward, Van Helsing, and more. The debut issue of Universal Monsters: Dracula will be an extra-length four-part comic book limited series.
The King of Vampires is on the prowl in this limited series Dracula comic book. When Dr. John Seward admits a strange new patient into his asylum, the madman tells stories of a demon who has taken residence next door. But as Dr. Seward attempts to apply logic to the impossible…his surrogate daughter Lucy begins to fall under the spell of the twisted Count Dracula!
