Thank you to Nickelodeon for sending a gift pack to this Geek Daddy promoting the home video release of STAR TREK PRODIGY SEASON 2 on Blu-ray and DVD. I was GEEKED to receive a sweatshirt, cozy blanket, snacks and a Blu-ray of the second season of Nickelodeon's Star Trek animated series to get my family ready for some Trekkie binge watching. Aimed to be an exciting entry point for young viewers into the Star Trek franchise, PRODIGY is also an entertaining spacefaring adventure that will thrill long-time Trekkies as well. PRODIGY embraces introducing Star Trek canon to new audiences without being overwhelmed by it making for a nice landing spot for someone interested in jumping into the sci-fi franchise. And for diehard fans, the series is full of delightful easter eggs to make this Trek extra special.
In season one of PRODIGY, the year is 2383, five years after the end of the Star Trek: Voyager tv show. A motley group of young aliens imprisoned at a mining colony on a remote planet find an abandoned Starfleet ship. Taking control of the ship, they must learn to work together to boldly go in an uncharted direction for them ... the freedom of space.
Season Two has this young band of aliens attempting to earn admission into Starfleet Academy after the exploits of the animated series first season. These six outcasts ultimately are enlisted by Admiral Kathyrn Janeway to serve on the USS Voyager-A to search for the missing crew of the USS Protostar, the abandoned Starfleet starship they discovered and commandeered in the first season of the show. In the course of that mission, they must confront the challenge of stopping an intergalactic war that could result in their entire timeline being destroyed from existence.
It is Warp Speed ahead as Dal R'El, Gwyndala, Rok-Tahk, Zero, Jankom Pog and Murf strive to save a galaxy where they can live long and prosper.
