CURSED TIKI TEMPLE

** A Geek Daddy received the featured product for free to review **
The new CURSED TIKI TEMPLE level pack for the IMAGINATORS edition of the Skylanders video game franchise doesn't come out until April 7 but A GEEK DADDY got his hands on it a few days early to try out.  This expansion to IMAGINATORS includes a toy-to-life Wild Storm Sensie figure, a Creation Crystal which allows for the creation and customization of a playable digital character within the game, an exclusive Imaginite Mystery Chest which provides 80 unique parts that can be utilized in building your own personalized Imaginator character, plus adds a brand new adventure segment to play.

CURSED TIKI TEMPLE provides new challenges to complete, puzzles to solve and enemies to conquer in a stand alone level added to the existing Skylanders IMAGINATORS video game.  Placing the Wild Storm senei figure included within the CURSED TIKI TEMPLE level pack upon your Skylanders portal will activate this new playable adventure within the game.  The new level is accessible by crossing a bridge on the left side of the Adventure Pack area of the M.A.P. and entering an ancient looking temple to begin playing it. While you need Wild Storm to initially access the new content any Skylanders toys-to-life or build it yourself Imaginator character can be used within the level.  My son has been primarily playing with Spyro for instance instead of using an Imaginator character or Wild Storm.

My kids and I have really enjoyed this new playable adventure for Skylanders IMAGINATORS.  It has a Margaritaville / Parrot Head flair to the characters and setting that this Jimmy Buffet fan appreciated.  We've been playing it while the kids have been on Spring Break from school and since we couldn't go on a Caribbean or South Pacific vacation the CURSED TIKI TEMPLE has provided a nice tropical adventure vibe to our week.

You are tasked with returning an enchanted stone head that has been stolen from a statue in the Tiki Temple to avert a curse from plaguing all of Skyland.  The head, named Bob, also happens to be able to talk and can help guide you into putting him back into his proper place.  He'll also provide some wise-cracking commentary along the way in a Jamaican accent.

You'll make your way through a haunted village, across the flying dragon path, and into the labyrinth of the Tiki Temple in your mission to reconnect Bob to his body.  During the journey Bob will share the story of how an evil curse terrorized his village until he was chosen to be transformed into a magical statue that contained it.  Now that the statue has been damaged the curse has been released and threatens all of Skylands.  Do you have what it takes to restore the statue with Bob's head and avert the threat of the Cursed Tiki Temple?

I'd recommend picking up the CURSED TIKI TEMPLE level pack when it becomes available at retailers on Friday, April 7, 2017.  My kids are delighted with the new content and I have to admit to liking it enough that I've played through some of the level by myself when my children were out doing some errands with my wife.  Shhh! Don't let them know that!  The CURSED TIKI TEMPLE level is really fun to play and its bonus character content enhances the overall IMAGINATORS video game experience making it a great addition to the Skylanders franchise.

Please visit skylanders.com for more information about the IMAGINATOR video game and its accessories. Skylanders IMAGINATORS and its CURSED TIKI TEMPLE expansion are available for Sony Playstation 3 & 4, Microsoft XBOX ONE & XBOX 360 and Nintendo Switch & Wii U video game consoles.

Pastel Colored Skylander Sensie Toy-to-Life Figures

** A Geek Daddy received the featured products for free to review**
There are some new Skylanders toy-to-life figures available for the IMAGINATORS edition of the popular video game franchise this Spring.  Pain-Yatta and Hard Boiled Flare Wolf have a pastel theme to their coloring providing these Skylanders figures with an Easter vibe.  In fact, Hard Boiled Flare Wolf is a limited production Spring edition of the figure that will be hard to find after the Easter season has passed by.  Both of these toy-to-life figures are sure to put a smile on the face of anyone who loves to play Skylanders IMAGINATORS and finds them in their Easter basket.  Find out more about the mythology of the two newest Skylanders IMAGINATORS Sensie.

Growing up, Pain-Yatta’s best friend was the legendary Unocorn, a unicorn with a churro-horn that sprinkles magical cinnamon from time to time. While the cinnamon donuts for breakfast were incredible, being so sweet and delicious made them both easy targets for those looking for yummy treats. But Pain-Yatta had no problem protecting the both of them with his giant sucker! One day, however, the Unocorn went missing, and Pain-Yatta was beside himself. He tried desperately to find his buddy, but to no avail. That’s when the Doom Raiders tricked him into thinking that the Skylanders were behind it all, and Pain-Yatta fell for it hook, line, and sinker. He joined up with the band of villains and ventured out to get revenge on the Skylanders, but was eventually captured by the Trap Masters. Master Eon explained that the Skylanders had nothing to do with the Unocorn’s disappearance and said he would help Pain-Yatta find his friend, if he became a Skylander Sensei and trained new Imaginators in the ways of smashing! Pain-Yatta agreed and the search for the missing Unocorn continues.

When Flare Wolf was young, he worked all summer to earn the coveted Fireworks Badge from the Wolf Scouts. In doing so, he had earned the right to light the fireworks in the annual St. Wigglewort’s Day celebration – an honor of which Flare Wolf was extremely proud. But on the day of the celebration, a band of evil Ice Ogres attacked his village and took the entire community hostage! The only weapons at his disposal were the town’s supply of fireworks they were saving for the evening festivities. One by one, Flare Wolf lit them in the center of the Ogre camp, launching a dazzling display of pyrotechnics that sent the Ogres running. Not only had Flare Wolf saved his village, he had also given its residents the most spectacular fireworks show they had seen in over 100 years! Even Master Eon was impressed, and offered Flare Wolf a position at the Academy as the Official Fireworks Launcher. But after seeing him in action, he quickly realized that Flare Wolf had much more to offer as a Sensei! Always enjoying a celebration, this Flare Wolf figure shows off his enthusiasm for Easter festivities with a special pastel outfit.

Portal Masters Will Be Able To Play SKYLANDERS IMAGINATORS On Nintendo Switch

Nintendo's newest gaming console, SWITCH, is launching on March 3, 2017.  This next generation gaming system has been designed to provide flexibility in where its users can play the device in today's mobile society.  Connect the device to a docking station that allows game play on television screens as video game consoles have traditionally done or take it with you on the go as a mobile device.  It's new adaptable Joy-Con grips start off as a traditional-style stand-alone controller for a single user playing games on a television, can be broken in two and held in each hand for motion controlled game play similar to Wii nunchuks or can be divided to be used by two competing players in multi-player games. Plus Joy-Con grips can be attached to either side of the console to support handheld play when using the Switch as a mobile gaming system. Nintendo is striving to provide gamers with the functionality and flexibility they've been craving with the SWITCH.

One of the drawbacks of a new gaming system like the SWITCH is there is often a lag between when the hardware manufacturer releases the device and game developers catch up to providing a decent catalog of titles that are playable on it.  Fans of Skylanders won't have to worry about that though when it comes to SWITCH as the Imaginators edition of the popular video game franchise will be available right away when Nintendo releases its new gaming console. All of Skylanders previous Toys-to-Life characters will be compatible to play on the first day the console is available when Portal Masters utilize the Nintendo SWITCH Imaginators Starter Pack.  Also taking advantage of the portability of the SWITCH, for the first time Portal Masters will be able to load and store the Skylander Toys-to-Life characters they've purchased, more than 300 in all, to a digital library so they can be accessed when players take their SWITCH out and about. This allows players to avoid dragging around their physical portal docks and Skylanders figures to utilize them when playing the SWITCH in its mobile mode. Very nice! Skylanders Imaginators for Nintendo SWITCH will be available for a suggested retail price of $59.99 when the system launches.

Also coming for Skylanders Imaginators this March will be the Cursed Tiki Temple level pack. This new pack takes players on an all-new adventure where they can unlock more than 100 new offerings for their Imaginators. The pack includes a new Sensei character, Wild Storm, a life Creation Crystal, and an Imaginite Mystery Chest.   The Cursed Tiki Temple level pack will be available for a suggested retail price of $29.99 on March 12 at participating retailers nationwide. The Cursed Tiki Temple level pack and new Skylanders Senseis will support all major gaming platforms including Nintendo SWITCH and Nintendo Wii U system; Xbox 360and Xbox One video game and entertainment systems from Microsoft; and PlayStation® 3 and PlayStation® 4 computer entertainment systems.

Skylanders Halloween Themed Limited Edition Toy To Life Figure -- Candy Coated Chopscotch

Spook up your Skylanders gameplay with the limited edition Candy Coated Chopscotch Halloween themed character that is on store shelves now for the new Imaginators edition of the popular video game franchise.

 Candy Coated Chopscotch
The only thing that ever mattered to Chopscotch was mastering her weapon of choice, the giant axe, while rocking out to her favorite musical idol, Wolfgang. It never bothered her that she was short in stature or that all of the other ghouls in the Underworld laughed at the way she spoke in rhymes as she made up her own lyrics to Wolfgang’s guitar jams. So when Wolfgang joined the villainous Doom Raiders, she was devastated. But instead of letting it destroy her, she chose to put her axe skills to good use, and fought Wolfgang and his Moon Goons when they attempted to curse her entire town during an evil concert. Her willingness to stand up to her long time hero came as a surprise to everyone, and soon all of the villagers were speaking in rhymes in her honor. Soon after, she met Master Eon, who was so impressed at her fighting abilities and positive outlook that he recruited her as a Sensei for the Smasher Class. Now she teaches new Skylanders how to fight… and how to rhyme!

Candy Coated Chopscotch is a playable character on Skylanders IMAGINATORS which was released on October 16, 2016 in the United States. CLICK HERE to check out A Geek Daddy's overview of all the fun new additions players can enjoy with the new Skylanders IMAGINATORS video game.

SKYLANDERS IMAGINATORS

** A Geek Daddy received the featured product for free to review**

The newest installment of the popular children's video game franchise SKYLANDERS® arrived on store shelves this week!  Toys for Bob, the company that develops SKYLANDERS for distribution by Activision Publishing Inc., annually introduces new characters and elements to expand upon the game play continuously making it bigger and better than the previous installments. SKYLANDERS IMAGINATORS allows players to unleash their imaginations like never before by for the first time giving them the power to customize and create their very own Skylander that can be played as a primary character in an all-new adventure that features compelling storylines, puzzles, battles, and a new lineup of heroes and villains.

Portal Masters, as SKYLANDERS players are known as, can utilize the game's Skylander Creator option to design their own personalized characters with an  extraordinary amount of options for available powers, abilities, catchphrases, appearances, and much more.  The make your own Skylander characters, which are called Imaginators, can be saved on Creation Crystals.  A Creation Crystal comes with the SKYLANDERS IMAGINATORS starter pack and additional ones can be purchased separately.  Players can create one Imaginator character per Creation Crystal.

SKYLANDERS hasn't abandoned its Toys-to-Life figures, that have always been a sensation with fans of the video game franchise, for Creation Crystals though.  The game will also feature a variety of toy-to-life figures for a new character class called Senseis, that like the Creation Crystals, can be purchased separately from the SKYLANDERS IMAGINATORS starter pack and incorporated into game play as primary characters.  Each Sensei is a master of one of 10 powerful Battle Classes (e.g., Knight, Sorcerer, Brawler and more). Being the master of these Battle Classes, only Senseis have the ability to unleash Sky-Chi – the ultimate Battle Class super move. Skylanders Senseis have a master-to-apprentice relationship with newly created Imaginator Skylanders. This is supported in-game through the Sensei unlocking of unique Imaginator weapons, the increase of Imaginator level caps, providing access to special areas in the game, as well as the unlocking of new Secret Techniques for Imaginators of the same class.

Skylanders Senseis include 20 new characters and 11 former villains, including Kaos and the return of Crash Bandicoot and Dr. Neo Cortex.  SKYLANDERS IMAGINATORS also has an all-new Crash Bandicoot-inspired level -- Thumpin’ Wumpa Islands -- which is steeped in nostalgic gameplay that will be appealing, especially to moms and dads who many were probably kids themselves when Badicoot first appeared in a video game, for getting the whole family interested in playing together.  Thumpin’ Wumpa Islands is packed with TNT boxes, crabs, hazards, temple ruins, Wumpa Fruit, exploding crates and more. It also includes special Crash Zones that bring back the classic massive boulder chases from the original Crash games. The Thumpin’ Wumpa Islands level will be available to players who purchase the SKYLANDERS IMAGINATORS Starter Pack featuring Crash Bandicoot for PlayStation consoles at launch and will be available as an add-on adventure pack for everyone else available during the holiday shopping season.

This incredible box just arrived at our house! Activision generously sent A Geek Daddy a SKYLANDERS IMAGINATORS starter pack along with a great selection of Senseis and Creation Crystals for my kids to have fun playing with. To say my kids are enthusiastic to start playing the new SKYLANDERS IMAGINATORS video game would be an understatement!

SKYLANDERS IMAGINATORS is compatible with PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Nintendo Wii U. Parents who have purchased toys-to-life figures for previous editions of the game will also be pleased to know SKYLANDERS IMAGINATORS supports the 300+ character toys from all previous Skylanders games -- including Skylanders SuperChargers, Skylanders Trap Team, Skylanders SWAP Force, Skylanders Giants and Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure -- that kids can enjoy both as toys to play with in the real-world as well as characters they can use in the virtual game world.
