DJ SQUIRM-A-LOT ALBUM RELEASE PARTY

The Story Pirates are releasing their fourth full-length album, The Strawberry Band, on April 9th, and DJ Squirm-a-Lot is throwing a huge party on Zoom the night before, which is Thursday, April 8th at 7 pm EST, 6 pm CST, 4 pm PST to get the fun started. Admission is free for anyone who pre-saves the album on Spotify.

CLICK HERE for more information and the event registration link. Once fans save the new songs to Spotify, they will receive a link to RSVP and get the Zoom link for the event. The Strawberry Band album launch party will feature performances of several songs, games with DJ Squirm-a-Lot and the composers behind the album, plus a live Q&A with the performers and kid authors.

Every song on this Story Pirates musical album was inspired by a kid’s idea, and all these songs originally played on the top-rated Story Pirates Podcast. “The Strawberry Band” is a Beatles-esque song based on a story by Nathaniel, a 5-year-old Californian. The fictional British rock band has big dreams. Trouble is, they turn into strawberries whenever they perform. The seedy crew decides to create a concept album, and they reappear throughout the album to avoid a strawberry-eating shark, ending up in a psychedelic freakout before the final track, “I Have a Cookie” (performed by Broadway’s Eddie Cooper). Another recently released song and video is “Fun Crazy Weird Hair Store,” by a 9 year old named Sylvia from New Jersey.

Together, the songs tell compelling and hilarious stories about musical cinnamon buns, weird sisters, a wingless fairy, and a dreamy little hedgehog. The Strawberry Band features songwriting and performances by noted Broadway talent and upon its official release will be available wherever music is sold.

THE STRAWBERRY BAND ALBUM

the story pirates

The Story Pirates, winner of the 2020 iHeartRadio Award for Best Kids & Family Podcast, is releasing a new musical album with songs from their show. The Strawberry Band is full of fan favorite songs from The Story Pirates podcast episodes. The first song "Fun Crazy Hair Store" is available to stream and purchase digitally now and the full album is being released on April 9, 2021.

Like much of the content in the popular podcast, the songs were all inspired by suggestions submitted to the show's producers from children in their listening audience. “Fun Crazy Weird Hair Store” is a song about silly options for hairstyles adapted from a story by 9-year-old Sylvia from New Jersey. All together The Strawberry Band has twelve songs with titles such as " I Have a Cookie," "The Case of the Musical Cinnamon Buns" and "The Night I Started Sharing a Room with my Sister" that focus on educational and entertaining themes for children to enjoy for a total of 42 minutes of kindie rock.

This dad blogger just so happens to have a few copies of The Strawberry Band to giveaway. Who wants them?! Randomly selected winners will have their choice of The Story Pirates' The Strawberry Band album via digital download or compact disc.

STORY PIRATES NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE

Combining improvisational theatre with kindie music is the artistic troupe STORY PIRATES.  They take stories submitted to them by kids and transform them into humorous songs and skits which are shared through stage performances, video presentations and their popular Story Pirates Podcast.  Now some of the best songs which had previously been featured on their podcast have been compiled to create this performance group's first ever musical album titled NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.

STORY PIRATES: NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE is a foray into an eccentric array of topics ranging from penguins who work in an office to a carrot who lives on Saturn and longs to be eaten. This 12-song album utilizes the imaginations of children to create comedic tunes meant to get a laughs and giggles from people of all ages.  Adding professional polish to what young minds scribble down on paper invites kids into the creative process providing a fresh approach when it comes to adult artists engaging with kindie music's youthful audiences. It has resulted in an album that children will find captivating and entertaining.

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE can be purchased digitally from Amazon, Bandcamp, Google Play Music and iTunes.  It can be streamed via Spotify too.  Also consider taking in a live Story Pirates performance as the troupe performs regularly in New York City and Los Angeles as well as tours from coast to coast across the USA.

ABOUT THE ALBUM

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE kicks off with “Fart Out Loud Day,” a funky Motown track based on a story by two sisters submitted to STORY PIRATES from Colorado, ages 9 and 11. An entire body-positivity curriculum, including a Spanish lesson, is hinted at during this special song, and listeners are invited to "let it all out” and not be ashamed of this normal bodily function.

The fun continues with a modern dance-pop tune, perfect for Halloween parties: “Frank the Monster Who Wasn’t Scary,” followed by “The Guy,” a hip hop rap about a lazy boy who soon tires of his equally lazy, chip-eating neighbor. The soaring “Star” is followed by the title track, in which Glitter the pony becomes “the best guitar player in the world” despite all the naysayers. The shiny electro-pop “All 8 Unicorns” was inspired by the story submitted by a preschooler from NYC.

Other songs include the motivational ballad "Nothing Is Impossible," food inspired tunes "Fred the Carrot" and "Pizza Revenge," and some off the wall bird songs "Riding a Seagull Was Good" and "How Penguin Office Became a Thing." Take a listen to the full album on Spotify:
