Scooby-Doo! Where are You! originally aired for two seasons 1969-70 as part of CBS' Saturday morning cartoon schedule and this show has delighted generations of fans as it has continued to be broadcast in re-runs over the years. The success of this original cartoon series has expanded into new television shows, movies, comic books, toys, video games and all sorts of other pop culture products. Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Scooby-Doo by going back to where it all started with these original Saturday morning cartoons.
Scooby-Doo! Where are You! follows the exploits of four teens (Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy) and their loveable but cowardly canine companion. As they travel about in their van, the Mystery Machine, they become involved hilarious hijinks as they are embroiled in solving super natural mysteries involving ghosts, monsters and other creepy creatures. Through clever investigations, and sometimes by accident, these meddling kids and their dog ultimately unmask a villain who is pretending to haunt a place as part of a dastardly scheme.
I remember as a kid, binge watching meant waiting all week to spend Saturday mornings viewing the children's time lineup of cartoons on television. Scooby-Doo was a fixture of those years when kids looked forward to Saturday morning being the primary time when they could watch TV programming aimed at them. What I liked about Scooby-Doo as a child and enjoy about sharing the show with my own children is that the episodes are full of laughable moments and spooky fun but in the end aren't too scary as the ghosts and monsters are always unmasked to be ordinary people trying to pull off a heist or scheme. This makes Scooby-Doo! Where are You! a great show for families to watch together!
