CANDYMONIUM

Thank you to Hersheypark for providing ageekdaddy.com with a free family day pass

Hersheypark Candymonium

Appreciate the folks at Hersheypark inviting us out to the amusement park to give their newest roller coaster, Candymonium, a ride. Candymonium is the 15th addition to Hersheypark's collection of roller coasters and promises to be the best one yet to be added to the Hershey, Pennsylvania amusement park. This candy themed coaster features a 4,636-foot milk chocolate colored track and has three different Hershey-branded trains to ride in (Hershey Kisses, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups & Twizzlers Twists) that speed through a 7-acre course at speeds up to 76 miles per hour. My son and I were geeked to jump onboard the Candymonium!

I have to admit getting nervous as our train car started rolling up the first hill. While it looked tall from the ground, the 210-foot ascent (the highest roller coaster hill at Hersheypark) seemed so much steeper and higher as we climbed it to start off our Candymonium adventure. Then suddenly you are over the hump and hurling along the track through the roller coaster course getting a rush of adrenaline!

Plus, during the ride you get a feeling of weightlessness. I wasn't expecting that! It was awesome!

The momentum of that first hill drop shoots you through seven camelback hills which provide you with airtime, it feels like you would float out of your seat if you weren't strapped in, during each of these dips. During the ride you'll experience 26 seconds of weightlessness which out of a 2-minute ride is quite a long time experiencing this sensation. In addition to being impressed by experiencing weightlessness, I was amazed at how smooth the ride was. You enjoy butterflies-in-your-stomach from the drops and twists of the ride instead of the aches that you can get from being bounced and jostled around on older wood and metal coasters.

From our experience on Candymonium it is clear why Bolliger & Mabillard have earned their reputation. This roller coaster ride was so much fun!

Complimenting the park's highest roller coaster lift and seven camelback hills are a couple of twists to go along with its dips. Along a track which is the equivalent length of 10,279 Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bars are a 123-degree hammerhead curve and a panoramic banked curve around Hersheypark's iconic Kisses Fountain. Candymonium has all the ingredients to be one of your favorite roller coaster rides.

This Bolliger & Mabillard hyper coaster with its smooth ride and fast speeds is a heart-pounding thrill that is sure to be a memorable experience. Canymonium absolutely earned a Geek Daddy nod of approval for the amount of airtime weightlessness it provides and its exceptionally smooth ride that makes racing through its hills and curves feel thrilling instead of threatening. Candymonium is sweet!
