Hersheypark East Coast Waterworks

Thank you Hersheypark for providing ageekdaddy.com with a complimentary family day pass

On a hot summer day can't beat cooling off by having fun in the water! Your family is sure to have a soaking good time at Hersheypark enjoying this Pennsylvania attraction's dedicated area of spraygrounds, slides, pools and water rides themed after the iconic boardwalks that dot the shoreline of the Atlantic Ocean along America's east coast. Water slides, a lazy river, wave pool, thrilling amusement ride, and the gigantic East Coast Waterworks sprayground will have you geeked to get wet.

This 11-acre water park called The Boardwalk is located within Hersheypark from Memorial Day to Labor Day.  While many thrills parks charge a separate admission for their water parks, The Boardwalk is included with the price of entry into Hersheypark so you can enjoy rollercoasters and waterslides without having to pay extra or having to venture between different facilities. Get your adrenaline up on the Candymonium then relax drifting along the Intercoastal Waterway lazy river during your same summertime visit at Hersheypark. We had a great time during our family roadtrip to Hersheypark!

A highlight of our outing on The Boardwalk is the new East Coast Waterworks sprayground. Decorated to have the vibe of a visit to an Atlantic Ocean boardwalk, this fun water themed playground includes 600 interactive spray features, 7 slides, 2 crawl tunnels and a 10,000-gallon tipping bucket. Climb up various watery levels to enjoy a variety of splashing and sliding opportunities. East Coast Waterworks provides 54,000 gallons of wet and wild fun that all ages of a family can enjoy playing in together.

After having fun splashing around The Boardwalk, get soaked on Tidal Force. This log-ride style water coaster has you journey up a 100-foot incline then has riders dive down at 50 miles per hour to be enveloped in a giant wave. Don't get onboard if you aren't willing to get wet!

Then grab a raft and enjoy the excitement of plunging down a water slide. The Coastline Plunge provides a number of slide options with open-air slides, dark tunnels and thrilling curves to soar through. There are options so you can choose to ride alone or on a two-person tube when you take a plunge on these water slides.

If you are in the mood for some racing action, the Whitecap Racer allows you to race against up to eight people at the same time. How fast do you think you can go down the world's longest mat racing water slide? Everyone will know because after each heat, race times are shown on an arena sized scoreboard. This waterslide is such a blast!

For a more leisurely time, relax by taking a dip in The Boardwalk's The Shore wave pool or drifting around the Intercoastal Waterway lazy river. If you have young children in the family, stop by the Bayside Pier and Sandcastle Cove areas that are dedicated just for them. Bayside Pier is a zero depth entry pool which has an average depth of 18 inches catering specifically to smaller children. While  Sandcastle Cove provides a playscape with interactive elements designed to be enjoyed specifically by the younger ones in a family.

Chill out in the Hersheypark wave pool. This 378,000 gallon wave pool gradually deepens from 0 to 6 feet making it a perfect spot for the whole family to cool off and catch a wave. Your chance of enjoying the rolling surf of the Atlantic Ocean without actually going to an east coast beach.

Sometimes you just want to hop on top of a tube and drift along in the water. The Intercoastal Waterway is a slow, winding lazy river located in the heart of The Boardwalk at Hersheypark. Lay back, dip your feet in the water and just go with the flow.

Famous for their Coney Island board walk location and annual hot dog eating contest, Nathan's Famous has a location at Hersheypark too. Get yourself a frankfurter during your visit to The Boardwalk at Hersheypark. Not in the mood for a Nathan's Famous Hot Dog? They also have cheesesteaks, chicken sandwiches and hamburgers on the menu. Just say please to have chili and cheese added to your order. I like to drench my french fries in it!

We had a fantastic time at Hersheypark's The Boardwalk. It absolutely earned a Geek Daddy nod of approval for its fun factor and enjoyability. Plus, it got rave reviews from my wife who kept remarking at how impressed she was on how clean the whole place was compared to other regional amusement parks we've visited in the past. And the kids were all smiles enjoying themselves. We obviously enjoyed our family outing to Hersheypark.
