My mother-in-law bought an American Girl doll for my daughter and one for herself and the two of them would play with them together when she came over to our house to baby sit. Unfortunately, grandma passed away unexpectedly when my daughter was still in elementary school. To lift up my daughter's spirits after the funeral, we took a daddy-daughter road trip to Chicago and included in our visit giving grandma's doll a makeover at American Girl Place. My daughter doesn't play with dolls much anymore now she is a teenager but she still talks from time to time about the wonderful memories made during that trip. So, I understand the magic the American Girl brand can have in people's lives.
