HALLOWEEN KILLS

On Thursday night I was invited by Universal Pictures Home Entertainment to participate in a killer Twitter party to help promote the Digital release of HALLOWEEN KILLS and announce the that the film will be available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD in January. HALLOWEEN KILLS is a sequel to 2018's HALLOWEEN and is the second in a three-film trilogy produced by the horror movie extraordinaires at Blumhouse Productions.

Blumhouse's 2018 movie circumvents the prior sequels of the original 1978 slasher film to show a post-traumatic Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) preparing to face Michael Myers for a final showdown on Halloween night forty years after she survived his initial killing spree. HALLOWEEN KILLS begins just where the 2018 film concluded. It shows Laurie along with her daughter, Karen (Judy Greer), and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) fending off Myers. They are joined by townspeople who help to fend off the evil led by Tommy Doyle (Anthony Michael Hall) who is one of the children who was being babysat by Laurie during the original killing spree by Michael Myers. The final film in this trilogy HALLOWEEN ENDS is scheduled to arrive in movie theaters next fall.

It was fun during the party to interact with two of the actors from HALLOWEEN KILLS, Judy Greer and Anthony Michael Hall, to talk about the movie. You normally don't get the chance to chit chat with people from Hollywood that you see on television and in movies. So, I was geeked to interact with Anthony Michael Hall and Judy Greer!

For Generation X kids who grew up in the '70s & '80s, Michael Myers and Anthony Michael Hall are two nostalgic names. Halloween was a scary flick that kids were dying to see because parents didn't want them to and Anthony Michael Hall was the geeky face of teenage angst in the movies Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and Weird Science

I remember one of my friends had a sleepover where he pulled out a VHS copy of Halloween that we were all excited to watch because we felt so grownup to see a horror movie when we were probably still way too young to see it. And what can I say about Anthony Michael Hall ... his characters made a lot of us feel comfortable that we weren't alone in being awkward and not part of the "popular" crowd when they came out in the 1980s.

Judy Greer is the same age as I am and grew up in a suburb of Detroit about ten miles down the road from my childhood home. Never met her before she left Detroit for Hollywood though. Do I come off like a slasher movie creeper to say I've had a crush on her since her stint on Two and a Half Men? My wife likes to tease me about that!

I enjoyed being a part of the Halloween Kills at Home Twitter Party:

And the Halloween night when Michael Myers returned isn't over yet. Minutes after Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), her daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) left masked monster Michael Myers caged and burning in Laurie's basement, Laurie is rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, believing she finally killed her lifelong tormentor. But when Michael manages to free himself from Laurie's trap, his ritual bloodbath resumes. As Laurie fights her pain and prepares to defend herself against him, she inspires all of Haddonfield to rise up against their unstoppable monster. The Strode women join a group of other survivors of Michael's first rampage who decide to take matters into their own hands, forming a vigilante mob that sets out to hunt Michael down, once and for all.

Hope to see you on Thursday night! Give me a shout out if you are on Twitter watching HALLOWEEN KILLS with us. This should be a killer Twitter party!
