Thanks Disney for giving me a Belle Costume set for my daughter along with the BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Blu-ray. All opinions are my own.
My daughter and I enjoyed a spot of tea out in the garden before heading inside to watch Disney's live action adaption of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. The movie, a great addition to any home's video library, is now available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD. My daughter was delighted by the film when we saw it together at the movie theater and is thrilled she can watch it anytime she wants now.
In this fairy tale fantasy, Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent woman with a love of reading books, discovers that her father has been imprisoned in the dungeon of a cursed castle for trespassing upon the property. She is able to get him set free by promising the Beast that is lord of the manor to take her father's place as a prisoner in the castle. My daughter adores Emma Watson from her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films and loved the actresses performance in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST as Belle. For some of our past Harry Potter movie nights she has had fun dressing up as Watson's Hermione character and was so excited to put on a Belle gown to wear for our first viewing of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST on home video.
The Disney Store provided us with a Belle Costume for Kids which included replicas of the dress, shoes, and jewelry worn by Watson in the movie. My daughter especially loves the finally crafted costume jewelry that came along with the outfit that included fancy clip-on earrings, an elegant hair comb, and a beautiful necklace which features a snap together oval bead clasp for the fine link chain. The jewelry set came in a very nice storage box which contains an ivory satin bed for the items to rest on and a carrying strap so little girls can take it along with them on their own fantastic journeys.
The dress has some elegant touches to it as well. Glittering floral filigree and golden hem stitching grace the front and back of the gown. It is make from satin with a bodice that has ruffled organza overlays and trims. Rounding out the ensemble are the shoes which have embroidered feathers and decorative bows outlined in glittering gold.
Belle is terrified of the Beast and turned off by his bad behavior as she lives in the castle. As time goes by she befriends its enchanted staff and starts to become at home there. With some help from these bewitched furnishings both Belle and the Beast make an effort to get to know one another. She learns to look beyond the Beast's hideous exterior and realize there is the kind heart within it. This is where the adventure really begins! What happens next? You'll have to pick up BEAUTY AND THE BEAST on Blu-ray, DVD or Digital HD to find out!
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is rated PG for some action violence, peril and frightening images that overall is a very family friendly movie. Alan Menken, who won two Academy Awards (Best Original Score and Best Song) for the animated version of Beauty and the Beast, also provides the score for the live action film which includes new recordings of some of the musical performances from the animated movie along with three new songs he has written in collaboration with Tim Rice. Celine Dion who has performed several very memorable musical numbers in motion pictures also contributes to the soundtrack for this movie performing one of the new songs "How Does a Moment Last Forever." BEAUTY AND THE BEAST also boasts an excellent cast that in addition to Watson as Belle includes Dan Stevens (The Ticket, Night at the Museum) as the Beast, Luke Evans (Fast & Furious, The Hobbit) as Gaston, Kevin Kline (A Fish Called Wanda, Dave) as Belle's father Maurice, Josh Gad (A Dog's Purpose, FROZEN) as LaFou, Ewan McGregor (Star Wars Episodes I - III) as Lumie, Audra McDonald (Annie, A Raisin in the Sun) as Madame De Garderobe, Ian McKellen (Lord of the Rings, X-Men) as Cogsworth and Emma Thompson (Love Actually, Brave) as the teapot Mrs. Potts.
In addition to deleted scenes there are also a variety of extra features included with the movie on home video. These include watching an elaborately staged table read that took place before the movie began filming, a documentary on transforming the popular animated film into a live action movie that will be a classic in its own right, a featurette on the making of the musical sequences and a "Beauty and the Beast" music video. Also you'll want to watch the extended song segment about "Days in the Sun" which provides viewers some details about the Beast's childhood within an alternate version of the song from the movie.
Add BEAUTY AND THE BEAST to your Disney Movies Anywhere digital library or on Blu-ray or DVD as part of your home video collection. While it may be a tale as old as time this movie is a delightful fresh approach when it comes to telling this wonderful story. BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is a great movie night selection that your family will want to watch over and over again!

For all those families that have young girls that love horses as much as my daughter does, you'll want to share A COWGIRL'S STORY with them. We had a chance to watch this flick before its April 18th release on DVD and Digital Download so I can assure you it is family friendly selection for a movie night at home. It is rated PG based upon thematic elements involving the Afghanistan war with the film's plot including the father of one of the characters being killed in combat and another one's mother missing in action. The movie doesn't show battle sequences though and primarily is a feel good movie about the soldiers' children who are left behind at home while their parents are off confronting dangerous situations. A COWGIRL'S STORY promotes messages of inclusion and patriotism through a generally lighthearted story.
A COWGIRL'S STORY follows Dusty Rhodes (played by Bailee Madison / Just Go With It) who moves from her rural home to live with her grandfather (played by iconic singer Pat Boone) in a suburban community while her parents are serving in Afghanistan. At her new high school, Dusty makes friends with a group of kids that aren't used to her country lifestyle; including Savanah (Chloe Lukasiak / Center Stage: On Pointe) whose own father was recently killed serving in the Army. You may take the girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl as Dusty brings a new sense of style and spirit to the community. Sharing her love of horses, Dusty convinces her new friends to join her in forming an equestrian drill team that allows them to perform at rodeos and parades.
Just as Dusty is becoming comfortable with her new home, she receives news that turns the world upside down. Her mother's helicopter has been shot down and she is missing in action. To keep from being overwhelmed by fear and helplessness, Dusty with the help of her grandfather puts together a very special riding performance by the new high school equestrian team in honor of her parents and all the American soldiers fighting overseas. Patriotic spirit envelopes the entire town which comes out to support the performance making it an unforgettable event for both the riders and their audience.
A COWGIRL'S STORY will be available on DVD at Amazon and Target among other retailers across the United States and Canada as well as on major online platforms like iTunes as a digital download beginning April 18, 2017. The movie is about an hour and a half long. To be honest the story is a bit cheesy but this movie will put a smile on your face and the horse scenes were especially entertaining and captured my kids attention. So A COWGIRL'S STORY gets A GEEK DADDY nod of approval for being a nice selection for a family movie night.
SING was one of my kids favorite movies that came out last year and they've been regularly asking if we could get it to add to our home video library ever since seeing the animated film at the theater. My daughter always has a "berry" good time watching the Strawberry Shortcake videos that are released by Fox Home Entertainment. As a kid, I regularly tuned in on "the same Bat Time, same Bat Channel" to watch the re-runs of the 1960s Batman television show that were regularly broadcast on the air waves throughout the '70s and '80's in those days before cable programming. So my first, and some of my favorite, impressions of DC Comics' Batman character were from that campy television series that originally aired from 1966 through 1968. Yes it was cheesy but the show starring Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin was filled with some great laughable moments, guest appearances by '60s era celebrities, and promoted nice life lessons for young viewers such as the importance of doing your homework, eating your vegetables, and using a cross walk when crossing a road plus featured plenty of action scenes with the caped crusaders having fisticuffs with evil doers such as the Riddler, Joker and Penguin. I still love the original Batmobile, the BOFF!BAAM! WHAM! graphics inserted in fight scenes, and the "Holy Funny Bone Batman" type exclamations shouted out by Robin that were featured on the show.
So I'm excited that Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment are bringing back the original Batman and Robin from the 1960s television series for a brand new adventure in the animated movie BATMAN: RETURN OF THE CAPED CRUSADER. In fact the movie is literally bringing back the original stars as Adam West and Burt Ward voice Batman and Robin in this new animated adventure. They're also joined by Julie Newmar as the Catwoman who also played that role in the '60s television series. Originally slated for a direct to home video release, BATMAN: THE RETURN OF THE CAPED CRUSADER will have a one day showing on Monday, October 10, 2016 at theaters across the United States organized by Fathom Events to allow the movie a theatrical debut.
It’s back to the 1960s as Batman and Robin spring into action when
Gotham City is threatened by a quartet of Batman’s most fiendish foes –

Enjoy a summer of awesomeness with KUNG FU PANDA 3. In the newest sequel to Dreamworks Animation's Kung Fu Panda movie franchise, Po is reunited with his long-lost father and travels to a secret village where he meets hilarious new panda friends and family members. Thanks to the kindness of the nice people at Hasbro our family was able to enjoy a fun Star Wars themed Family Movie Night watching The Force Awakens the weekend before it was released on Blu-ray and DVD. We found a mysterious box on our front porch on April 1st with a big Star Wars logo on the front. It wasn't a joke though but rather the Blu-ray/DVD/DigitalHD movie bundle for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens a few days before the film's official April 5, 2016 release on Blu-ray and DVD.
In addition to receiving The Force Awakens to enjoy, the box was also filled with a variety of Star Wars goodies to help make our Family Movie Night extra special.
Hasbro Star Wars toys are a great way to re-enact favorite scenes from the Star Wars saga of movies. My son practiced his dueling skills with a light up Bladebuilders Kylo Ren lightsaber during The Force Awakens battle sequences while my daughter held tight to a giant Rey action figure throughout the show. The two of them have also had fun imagining up new adventures for BB-8, Finn, Rey and Maz Kanata with the Takodana Encounter 3.75 Inch Multipack that we also received in our Star Wars gift pack from Hasbro.
We always like to include some themed activities to our Family Movie Night entertainment. We started off the evening with a target shooting competition using a Star Wars NERF Episode VII First Order Stormtrooper Deluxe Blaster. I'd like to brag that I won this competition hands down but I'm also honest and have to say my wife took first place with my son doing pretty well too but I did hit more targets than my little girl did to avoid last place. Of course she schooled me in the next competition of the night which was several rounds of R2D2 Bop It. I have to say my daughter really loves that game!
Of course you can't have a Family Movie Night without treats! We snacked on Star Wars themed JELLO Jigglers of Chewbacca, C3P0, Darth Vader, R2D2 & Yoda along with some popchips and blue "bantha" milk. Here's my preferred recipe for Blue Milk just like Anakin and Luke Skywalker drank growing up on Tatooine:
Ingredients:
1 cup of milk;
1/2 teaspoon of unsweetened blue fruit punch mix;
1/2 teaspoon of sugar.
Directions:
Pour the milk into a tall glass and gently stir in the blue fruit punch mix;
The drink should initially be light tinted blue. Add more of the fruit punch mix to get a darker color if you desire;
Add sugar to sweeten the taste.

Scrat, Manny, Sid, and Diego from the animated franchise "Ice Age" will be making an appearance on the FOX television network Sunday, March 20, 2016 in an all-new holiday adventure -- ICE AGE: THE GREAT EGG-SCAPADE. The half-hour holiday television special will air from 7:30 - 8:00 pm ET/PT. My kids adore the Ice Age movie characters so this is a must view television show for our household.
In ICE AGE: THE GREAT EGG-SCAPADE harried mom Ethel (Taraji P. Henson) entrusts her precious soon-to-hatch egg to Sid (John Leguizamo). When she recommends him to her neighbors -- condor mom (Wendy Williams), Cholly Bear (Gabriel Iglesias) and Gladys Glypto (Lili Estefan) -- business booms at his new egg-sitting service. However, dastardly pirate bunny Squint (Seth Green), who is seeking revenge on the ICE AGE gang, steals, camouflages and hides all the eggs. Once again, with Squint's brother Clint (Blake Anderson) assisting, Manny (Ray Romano), Diego (Denis Leary) and the rest of the gang come to the rescue and take off on a daring mission that turns into the world's first Easter egg hunt.
Watching this Easter special is sure to delight young viewers but don't fret if your family can't tune in on Sunday night because ICE AGE: THE GREAT EGG-SCAPADE arrives on Digital HD the day after the broadcast at iTunes, Google Play, Vudu, and Amazon Video.
