scooby doo movie

Scooby Scooby Doo! Scooby Doo rode into town to deliver his new animated movie SCOOB! to us for a family movie night. SCOOB! is now available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD to add to your home entertainment video library. In addition to the feature presentation the 4K and Blu-ray discs also incorporate bonus segments including Bloopers, Deleted Scenes and the featurettes How to Draw Scooby Doo, New Friends, New Villains, and Puppies. The DVD just has the Draw Scooby Doo featurette included with the movie.

SCOOB! is Scooby-Doo's greatest adventure yet!  It shares the never-before told story of how lifelong friends Scooby and Shaggy first met and how they joined forces with young detectives Fred, Velma and Daphne to form the famous Mystery Inc. Learn how this gang of meddling kids disrupted the schemes of numerous scheming crooks.

Then jump ahead to the present day where after hundreds of cases solved, Scooby and the gang face their biggest, toughest mystery ever: an evil plot to unleash the ghost dog Cerberus upon the world. As they race to stop this global “dogpocalypse,” the gang discovers that Scooby has a secret legacy and an epic destiny greater than anyone ever imagined.

I grew up watching Scooby Doo cartoons and my son and daughter have become fans from my sharing the original television series with them. I fondly remember spending Saturday mornings watching Scooby Doo and other Hanna-Barbera cartoons during my childhood. My kids have grown up though in a generation where "Saturday Morning Cartoons" really aren't a thing anymore. So we appreciated that watching SCOOB! has the spirit of spending a weekend morning watching cartoons capturing the fun and silliness that Hanna-Barbera productions brought to generations of children through the '60s, '70s and '80s.

SCOOB! has the vibe of classic Hanna-Barbera cartoons but also provides audiences with today's modern animation style. It also incorporates a number of classic Hanna-Barbera characters to join Mystery Inc. in this family friendly adventure. The Blue Falcon and Dynomutt team up with Scooby Doo, Fred, Daphne, Velma and Shaggy to try and save the day from the threat of Dick Dastardly. Dee Dee Skyes from Hanna-Barbera's Charlies Angels spoof Teen Angels also has a role in the movie along with Captain Caveman. There are also numerous Easter eggs to look out for in the movie involving classic Hanna-Barbera characters and shows including Squiddly Diddly, Hong Kong Phooey, Yogi Bear, The Flintstones, Space Stars and Laff-a-Lympics.

Could SCOOB! be the start of a Hanna-Barbera movie universe? Hopefully so! My family really enjoyed SCOOB! and would look forward to more similarly styled movies that have a retro vibe but are presented as modern day stories.
