DUNE IMAX POSTER

DUNE promises to be a BIG movie! It is being theatrically released in October as well as have a simultaneous debut on the HBO Max streaming service. And while you may be able to see the movie from home streaming it on your television this is a flick you are going to want to see on IMAX!

IMAX just debuted their promotional poster for the movie and I'm sure a lot of sci-fi fans are going to be geeked to see this movie on the big IMAX screens at theaters. I've heard the sets for the film were so big that actors got lost while moving around them. Plus you want to see those big sand worms tower over the audience on the silver screen. This science fiction movie has so many big elements to it seeing it on IMAX is the way to go.

DUNE is based upon is one of the most popular science fiction novels ever published, written by author Frank Herbert in 1965. The book tied with Roger Zelazny's This Immortal for the Hugo Award [recognizing the best in science fiction] and also won Nebula Award for Best Novel. The story was adapted into a movie in 1984 that bombed at the box office. I've never read DUNE or its five sequel novels and didn't like the 1984 film which featured Kyle MacLachlan, Sting, Virginia Madsen, and Patrick Stewart; but I know bunch of fans of the books and insist that if this new movie faithfully follows Herbert's story it will be extraordinary. So I'm all in for seeing Warner Bros. DUNE directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival / Blade Runner 2049) when it arrive on IMAX screens this fall.

A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, DUNE tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.
