HOW TO LEAD A CALM AND RELAXED LIFE

How to lead a calm and relaxed life

In our everyday lives, we often sprint through activities rushing to get as much as possible done in a day.  Unfortunately, it is not often until children have grown up or one's health may be in decline that we realize we should have focused on slowing down instead of speeding up to get the most out of life.

This constant state of busyness instead of leaving us fulfilled with a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day just has most people tired and stressed. Today's hectic lifestyles with all that we try to fit into a day still tend to leave us lacking for the time that really matters most to us. Time for spending with loved ones, having a good laugh or doing things we truly enjoy.

avoiding stress tips

It does not have to be that way, though. It is more than possible to prioritize things in your life to reduce the stress and increase the joy in it. Be happy in the moment rather than always thinking about the next thing you need to do.  Ask yourself are present in everything you do throughout the day or just going through the motions to get tasks done. If so can you simplify your life or at least reduce some of the stress in it?

Here are three suggestions on how to lead a more calm and relaxed lifestyle:

Consider some of the dangers that a hectic lifestyle can bring

For many reasons, both mentally and physically, living a hectic lifestyle can be detrimental, and in some cases even dangerous. Some may be masked by the rushing around, such as exhaustion, poor mental health and susceptibility to illnesses. Being so focused on other activities can lead you to be distracted and more prone to accidents. Any good injury lawyer will tell you that human error and being distracted is one of the main causes of an accident. It is not only you that you are putting in danger, but the people around you, too.

Put yourself first

This can be a hard one, especially if you are a parent, but sometimes, you have to put yourself first. We have all heard of the sayings about putting your own oxygen mask first and not being able to pour from an empty jug - they are both completely valid. If you are not putting yourself first once in a while, you cannot possibly put anyone else first because you will lack the energy and motivation. Taking a step back by putting yourself first on a regular basis is essential for a calm and relaxing life.

Also, don’t be afraid to be who you really are, or at least try to reconnect with that a little. It might be that journaling your thoughts can help you realign your priorities in your daily planning efforts, or it might just help you figure out what kind of style you’d like to wear now that you’ve grown and have become a new person entirely. This might involve buying a great new jacket, learning how to pair a bracelet and watch, or even getting that brand new haircut you’ve been meaning to. A little self-care goes a long way.
Remove toxic people

There has been a big push in the media and on social media about cutting toxic people out of your life and it is about time. If there is someone in your life who adds nothing to it, consider whether you want or need them around. Ask yourself whether they are a radiator or a drain; a radiator provides energy and warmth making you feel good. A drain takes your positive energy and drains it away, leaving you with nothing to feel good about. Get rid of the drains and surround yourself with radiators for a calm and relaxing life.
