BOBA FETT EE-3 NERF BLASTER

boba fett nerf blaster

With a renewed focus on the Star Wars universe's most notorious bounty hunter due to the Disney Plus show THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT, Hasbro has created a Nerf blaster that I'd be so geeked to get my hands on. Modeled after Boba Fett's EE-3 weapon it is meticulously detailed to capture the look of the blaster as it is seen on the Disney Plus live-action Star Wars series. The only difference is this Nerf version fires foam darts instead of plasma bolts.

The Star Wars Boba Fett EE-3 Nerf Blaster includes 3 drums, each with 4-dart capacity, so you can switch them out to reload Nerf Elite darts. This 30-inch Nerf blaster also has an electronic scope with an illuminated lens and makes series-accurate blaster sound effects. It comes fully assembled in premium packaging that is designed for displaying.

To fire a dart, load a drum, prime, and pull the trigger. Simple as that! This will be so fun to play around with, especially if you are donning a Star Wars Black Series Mandalorian helmet while hunting your prey.

SING YOUR SONG

the harmonica pocket sing your song

As my kids have entered middle-school, we've had some tear jerking moments regarding bullying and peer pressure that have put them in some tough situations. The tween and teen-aged years are a time of finding self-identity and it can be hard for kids to stay true to their self nature as they feel compelled to fit in with the crowd. This can cause anxiety, misbehavior and other troubles as kids try to be who others want them to be.

That is why establishing a good foundation of self worth and confidence with children in their preschool and elementary school years is so important. One way of doing that is exposing them to uplifting messaging while having an entertaining time by the family enjoying kindie rock together. With that in mind, I wanted to give a plug to the newest album from The Harmonica Pocket titled SING YOUR SONG which is filled with music that is not just fun to listen to but has content to promote the value of self-identity and being proud to be your own person with children.

the harmonica pocket

The Harmonic Pocket is led by singer-songwriter Keeth Monta Apgar. He is joined by a number of musical artists in this album made for families to enjoy together. SING YOUR SONG revolves around the theme of "being yourself, in hopes of empowering young people," Apgar mentioned in pitching the album to a Geek Daddy. “The primary message could be summed up in this couplet from the title song: ‘You may not sound like everybody else/But you sound just like yourself.’ In other words, be yourself because you’re the only one who can sing the song that lives inside your heart.”

One of Apgar’s favorite vocalists, Renee Stahl, of Renee & Jeremy, sings harmony on the title track. Renee and Apgar are accompanied on electric bass by beloved children’s musician Johnny Bregar and by first-call Seattle drummer Eric Eagle. Check out a special solo acoustic performance of the title track Sing Your Song by Apgar that is a little bit unique from the song on the album:

Other highlights of the album include a giddy nonsense number, “Everything Is Everywhere,” sung as a duet by Apgar and his childhood friend Tom Gilhuley, backed by Johnny Bregar and Nashville percussionist Kevin Rapillo, who has, for nearly two decades, played drums for country music star Rodney Atkins. “I Can Be The Princess” challenges some of the outdated gender roles that people still tend to slip into, while celebrating the imaginative play of children. The lovely “Wee A Tilly” is so evocative of traditional Celtic folksong that it inspired Apgar’s collaboration with Russian illustrator Ekaterina Bogdan on a beautiful music video. The Harmonica Pocket’s version of “Stand By Me” is a masterful rendition of one of the most memorable songs of the sixties. Apgar noted, “I love this song’s simple message of sticking together despite – and because of – our differences.”

LEKKCO

LEKKCO

What is the first thing that comes to mind when Halloween approaches? Costumes, ghost stories, jack-o-lanterns? For me it is ... CHOCOLATE!

So this is a perfect time to talk about a favorite brand of mine → LEKKCO. This is a Belgian chocolate spread with all natural ingredients that is nut-free, gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan. It has only 4 grams of sugar and 60 calories per serving. And it tastes GREAT earning a Geek Daddy nod of approval!

The LEKKCO name is a blending of the Flemish words Lekker "something delicious" and Co "chocolate" tied to the Belgium originations of the brand's products. There are four flavors of LEKKCO to choose from: Dark Chocolate, Caramel & Sea Salt, Coconut and Caribbean Banana. It is available at over 2,500 retail locations including Kroger and Fred Meyer as well as online at amazon.com.

I love to dip pretzel sticks in LEKKCO to snack on while watching weekend football games and Halloween season horror movies. It also makes snacking on fruit like strawberries and blueberries extra tasty! I'll admit I've even included this Belgian chocolate spread into my breakfasts occasionally coating a toasted bagel with it. If you want to be creative, consider using it as an ingredient in a panini sandwich or a s'more-style desert. Oh so tasty!

Like my own daughter, the founders of LEKKCO have a child with dyslexia. I appreciate that they have decided that topic will be the company's focus for its charitable commitments. The brand's font is a variation of the dyslexie font which is designed to make it easier for dyslexic individual's to read. They've pledged to dedicate a portion of profits to support providing resources for public schools to assist kids with dyslexia. That is appreciated because we've found that the public schools my children have attended really honestly don't give a shit about helping kids with this learning disorder. There are many school aged children and their parents struggling with this disability so thank you LEKKCO for bringing attention and some resources to address this topic.

Buy a jar of LEKKCO using a Geek Daddy affiliate link and this dad blogger will receive a small commission at no additional expense to your purchase. Your support of ageekdaddy.com is appreciated! For more information, visit lekkco.com

iLive Wireless Tailgate Speaker

iliveelectronics.com provided a complimentary product to this blogger for review. Opinions are honest and my own.

ilive wireless tailgate speaker review

I've been enjoying spending time on the back patio listening to Detroit Tigers baseball games on the radio with the iLive Wireless Tailgate Speaker. I can't stream via the Internet the game's play-by-play from the local radio station because of licensing rights and didn't actually own a radio anymore, other than the one in my car, so got my hands on this speaker that is equipped with an fm frequency receiver to listen to the Tigers' games this summer. It has been working out great!

The iLive Wireless Tailgate Speaker has been getting excellent reception of all the local fm radio stations and when I'm not listening to the ball games my kids like to use it to play music when they have their friends over using the pool in our backyard. In  addition you connect it to phones, tablets and computers via bluetooth wireless connection, plug it into other devices, or insert a thumb drive or SD memory card into dedicated ports. My wife likes to sit back and stream audio books from her phone to the iLive Wireless Tailgate Speaker while sipping a glass of wine on a nice summer day. Whether streaming or utilizing the USB port or SD memory card reader this speaker supports MP3 file formats for playing music and other audio content.

As this speaker's name implies, it is not just great for using outdoors around the house but built to be perfect for tailgating. It is very portable! Sturdily built but also light weight the iLive Wireless Tailgate Speaker is easy to transport and has a built in handle making picking it up and carrying very convenient. No problem setting this speaker system up on back bed of a pickup truck or trunk of a car as part of your tailgate setup. You can just set it on a picnic table no trouble!

There is also a microphone jack so you can use the speaker to make announcements (microphone not included). There is even a separate audio control specifically for using microphones with the speaker. I wish I had this when coaching my soccer teams. Would have announced the players before games and played some music to pump them up as they ran out onto the field. The iLive Wireless Tailgate Speaker has a built-in 5.25" woofer to kick up the music!

A rechargeable battery makes it easy to power up this speaker. A half hour charge will give you a suggested play time of 3 hours though I've listened to a four hour baseball game without having any trouble with the speaker losing power. So just charge it up and the iLive Wireless Tailgate Speaker is good to go.

A feature my kids really like is there is a LED lighting effect within the speaker having it change colors from green to red to purple while listening to it. The lighting along with the woofer make this speaker very entertaining for impromptu dance parties! Whether at a stadium parking lot, school athletic field, neighborhood park or just hanging out at your own house the iLive Wireless Tailgate Speaker is really fun to have around.

Most importantly, we've experience wonderful sound clarity and amplification making for great listening experiences. As nifty and handy as the iLive Wireless Tailgate Speaker is to use, I was amazed you can buy one for less than $100. iLive Wireless Tailgate Speakers have earned a Geek Daddy nod of approval for ease of use, convenience and sound quality. You can pick one up for yourself at Amazon.
