TOYS OF TERROR

Warner Bros Home Entertainment provided this dad blogger a free DVD. Opinions expressed are my own.

toys of terror bluray

Disney's Toy Story movies made the remarkable notion of toys coming alive an amazing and adorable experience for movie viewers. Now Warner Bros has taken that same theme and made it terrifying for horror movie fans. TOYS OF TERROR brings to life a frightful scenario that you may not want to watch with the lights off. Rated R for horror and violence this is a movie I'm going to wait until the kids are in bed to watch because if they saw it I'm assured not to be getting any sleep having them up with nightmares.

David and Hannah Cashman have promised their family a fun Christmas getaway, but when they arrive at a grand old house in the snowy woods of Washington they are greeted by a familiar construction foreman. The kids realize they've been duped and the parents plan a working vacation renovating the place in hopes of flipping it.

Alicia, the eldest child, is annoyed but her younger siblings are soon distracted when wandering through the creepy mansion they discover a stash of old toys in an abandoned playroom. Before long the kids seem to be inseparable from their new playthings much to consternation of their nanny Rose who, along with Alicia, senses that something in the house is not quite right.

As stranger and stranger things start to happen, Rose and Alicia have a hunch that there may be more to the history of the old house than the Cashman parents are letting on. Can the family escape with their lives or will they stay forever in this crumbling house never to celebrate another Christmas again?

A holiday spooktacular of a film that is sure to delight horror movie fans, TOYS OF TERROR is now available on Blu-ray and DVD. Pick it up from Best Buy using a Geek Daddy affiliate link and this dad blogger will receive a small commission at no additional expense to you. Your support of ageekdaddy.com is always appreciated!

STORKS Flies Into Movie Theaters On September 23, 2016

** A Geek Daddy received the featured products for free**

We received a special delivery of back to school goods when a stork left us a surprise on our front porch.  It appears #Storks have gotten out of the baby delivery business and are competing with Fed Ex and UPS delivering consumer products now.  Check out what arrived at our doorstep:

STORKS is a family-friendly 3D animated comedy that is arriving at movie theaters across the United States on Friday, September 23, 2016.  In this movie, Storks have stopped delivering babies and now deliver packages for a global internet retailer.  Junior, the company’s top delivery stork, is about to be promoted when he accidentally activates the Baby Making Machine, producing an adorable and wholly unauthorized baby girl. Desperate to deliver this bundle of trouble before the boss gets wise, Junior and his friend Tulip, the only human on Stork Mountain, race to make their first-ever baby drop – in a wild and revealing journey that could make more than one family whole and restore the storks’ true mission in the world.

STORKS features the voices of  Andy Samberg (“Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,” “Hotel Transylvania”), Kelsey Grammer (“Toy Story 2,” “The Simpsons”), Katie Crown (Cartoon Network’s “Clarence”), Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele (Comedy Central’s “Key & Peele”), and Danny Trejo (“The Book of Life”). The film is directed by Nicholas Stoller (“Neighbors,” BAFTA nominee for “Muppets Most Wanted”), and Doug Sweetland (supervising animator on “Cars,” Oscar-nominated director of the animated short “Presto”). STORKS was produced by Warner Bros. Animation Group which also created THE LEGO MOVIE.

BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE animated movie playing at select theaters on July 25

It's no joke that Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment are releasing this summer an animated movie meant specifically for an adult audience.   BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE is an R-rated cartoon based on the acclaimed graphic novel of the same name which takes a journey into the dark psyche of the Clown Prince of Crime -- from his humble beginnings as a struggling comedian to his fateful encounter with Batman that changes both of their lives forever.  Years later, and now escaped from Arkham Asylum, The Joker devises a plan to prove that one bad day can make anyone as insane as he is.

Following a gripping prologue introducing Barbara Gordon's heroic adventures alongside Batman as Batgirl, BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE stays true to the authentic tale that has held fans' imaginations for nearly three decades -- spotlighting the birth of a Super-Villain, the fortitude of a Super Hero and the punchline that will leave you speechless.  BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE reunites the foundation of the popular "Batman: The Animated Series" television show with Bruce Timm returning as executive producer and actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill reprising their roles voicing Batman and The Joker respectively.  Slated for a direct to home video release, BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE will get a one night premiere showing on the big screen at cinemas across the United States thanks to Fathom Events partnering with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment.

Fathom Entertainment brings the acclaimed graphic novel-turned-film to select movie theaters across the United States providing BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE the big-screen treatment on Monday, July 25, 2016  at 7:30pm and 10:00pm local time.   In addition to the showing of the animated movie, audience members will be welcomed by a special introduction from Mark Hamill plus see a never-before-seen documentary about how Hamill was cast in this project and what the role means to him as an actor and a fan.  The event will conclude with a special behind-the-scenes look at how the Joker's memorable, yet disturbing song and dance number was recreated from the print pages of a comic book to be portrayed in the animated movie.

Tickets for BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE can be purchased online beginning Friday, June 17 at FanthomEvents.com or at participating theater box offices.  Fathom Events will be listing participating movie theaters on the BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE section of its website.
