We picked up dinner from our favorite Chinese restaurant (Mui's in Clawson, Michigan), had a good time completing a Mulan themed activity pack, and enjoyed watching this movie courtesy of our friends at Walt Disney Studios.

We had such a wonderful evening I wanted to share our family movie night fun! So I've included the activity sheets below for you to enjoy. Plus...I have a digital code redeemable from moviesanywhere.com to giveaway!

To save her ailing father from serving in the Imperial army, a fearless young woman named Mulan disguises herself as a man to battle invaders who are set on killing the Emperor and destroying China in the process. Aiding these rogues is a devilish witch who has the men of China overmatched until one of their own soldiers surprises everyone.  Does Mullan have the courage and chi to save her friends, family and the Emperor's dynasty?

The movie is rated PG-13 for sequences of violence. While there isn't anything particularly troublesome for young viewers to watch in this movie, note it isn't the kids cartoon that so many families are familiar with. The goofy sidekicks and warm hearted songs of the animated film have been replaced with more serious themes about female empowerment and devotion to family. Still the movie is filled with vivid visuals of landscapes, jaw dropping martial arts scenes and eye catching special effects. This version of Mulan just may be a bit more fitting for tweens and teens to watch with their parents for some Disney family movie night entertainment instead of the elementary school aged kids that people may think would be into it.

CAMP WARNER BROS SOCCER FUN

SPONSORED BY WARNER BROS HOME ENTERTAINMENT

This week's Camp Warner Bros activities revolved around having some summer time soccer fun. Warner Bros Home Entertainment provides us with the soccer themed movie Alex & Me for a family movie night. Then the next day inspired by the film's star Alex Morgan, who helped the U.S. Women's Team win the World Cup in 2015 and 2019 in real life, my daughter spent an afternoon juggling a soccer ball in the backyard.

The goal of juggling a soccer ball is to keep it in the air without using your arms or hands to avoid it from hitting the ground. How long can you keep it aloft using your hands, knees and even your head? She has gotten pretty good being able to juggle the ball constantly for a few minutes at a time.

The movie Alex & Me is the story of a girl, like my daughter, who has been inspired to play soccer by witnessing Alex Morgan's talents in high profile games like the Olympics, World Cup and professional soccer matches. Alex demonstrates that girls don't have to just be cheerleaders but can be competitive athletes in sports themselves.

In Alex & Me, teenager Reagan Willis has one dream – to play soccer like her hero, Alex Morgan. Her bedroom is a shrine to all things Alex, including a life-size poster of the Olympic gold medalist. Yet in the Willis house, Reagan lives in the shadow of her prep football superstar brother, Logan. When Reagan fails to make the cut of the premiere local soccer club team and is humiliated by her rival Claire, she’s certain her ship has sailed. But after accidentally hitting her head, Reagan’s poster of Alex Morgan suddenly comes to life and everything changes!

Just like in Alex & Me encourage kids to use this Goal Chart to keep track of soccer drills and other tasks to help ensure they are having a productive summer. For some further encouragement have them watch Alex & Me. I've got a digital code for the movie to giveaway courtesy of Warner Bros Home Entertainment.

For a chance to win this movie just complete the Rafflecopter entries below before 11:59 pm ET on Sunday, August 9, 2020. Must be a United States resident over 18 years old to participate. Glad to share some of our Camp Warner Bros fun with our randomly selected winner. Good luck!

PLAYING WITH FIRE

Thanks to Paramount Home Entertainment for sending us some goodies including PLAYING WITH FIRE and a giant Jenga game for some family movie night fun. This family friendly comedy starring John Cena, Judy Greer, Keegan Michael Key, Tyler Mane and John Leguizamo as well as introducing child actors Christian Convery, Finley Rose Slater and Brianna Hildebrand is now available to add to your home entertainment video library via Blu-ray, DVD and Digital. PLAYING WITH FIRE is rated PG for rude humor, suggestive material, and mild peril by the Motion Picture Association of America.

The cast has some fun in the movie playing a game like Jenga with large wood timbers. So we got into the action too having a good time playing Jenga with a giant game set that Paramount provided us before turning on the movie. We made up some S'mores in the fireplace to snack on as we got nestled under blankets on the living room couch to watch the show. We'd seen the movie when it was playing in theaters and had been looking forward to seeing it again when it came out on home video. Adding some Jenga playtime and sweet sticky treats while enjoying the flames of the fire I built in our chimney made for an extra fun evening tying in to the theme of the movie for a night of family fun.

In PLAYING WITH FIRE when straight-laced fire superintendent Jake Carson (John Cena) and his elite team of expert firefighters (Keegan-Michael Key, John Leguizamo and Tyler Mane) come to the rescue of three siblings (Brianna Hildebrand, Christian Convery and Finley Rose Slater) in the path of an encroaching wildfire, they quickly realize that no amount of training could prepare them for their most challenging job yet – babysitters. Unable to locate the children’s parents, the firefighters have their lives, jobs and even their fire depot turned upside down and quickly learn that kids – much like fires –are wild and unpredictable.

PLAYING WITH FIRE takes the elements of KINDERGARTEN COP and DADDY DAYCARE that made those flicks fun to watch and adds its own spin to the story for a movie that children and parents can enjoy viewing together. The movie doesn't take itself too seriously understanding it is what it is a comedy filled with corny jokes and slapstick humor that is meant to be enjoyed by families together over a tub of popcorn. There are scenes in this movie that had us all howling with laughter!

To share my family's enjoyment of PLAYING WITH FIRE, ageekdaddy.com has a Blu- ray+DVD+Digital Code movie pack to giveaway. For a chance to win it, just complete the rafflecopter entries below before 11:59pm EST on Sunday, February 23, 2020.
