Set sail with Luffy, Nami, Zoro, Usopp, Sanji, and Chopper as they come together and form the Straw Hat Pirates! In this two-part animated LEGO® special, join the crew as they make their way into a treacherous stretch of ocean known as the Grand Line, in search of the One Piece and their dreams. Along the way, they’ll fight off a crazed pirate clown, marines, fishmen, and a criminal syndicate — all while exploring islands full of unknown danger and fun! Oh, and did we mention, the crew’s most reliably unreliable narrator is the teller of this tale? That’s right, Usopp brings his propulsive storytelling and liberal use of “dramatic license” along for the ride.
When I'm with you baby
I go out of my head
A and I just can't get enough! In high school you'd often fine me listening to a Depeche Mode tune, in fact they were the first band I ever saw in concert! So, I had some nostalgic flashbacks of those times when hearing that a Depeche Mode concert film will be shown in October on IMAX screens at movie theaters across the country.
DEPECHE MODE: M is a unique cinematic journey into the heart of Mexican culture's relationship with death, framed by the iconic live performances of Depeche Mode during their 2023-2024 Memento Mori tour. Conceived and directed by award-winning Mexican filmmaker Fernando Frías, the film captures the band's three sold-out shows in Mexico City, blending concert footage with interpretive interstitials and archival material. The feature-length film takes audiences on a musical and spiritual journey, as the songs resonate in real time with fans, illustrating their timeliness multi-cultural influence while delving into the profound connection between music, mortality, and Mexican tradition.

I love the comedy-style JUMANJI movies starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Kevin Hart and Jack Black that were a parody of action/adventure films. So, I'm geeked that Jack Black is heading back to the jungle, this time joined by Paul Rudd and Steve Zahn, in a spoof of horror flicks! ANACONDA slithers into movie theaters at Christmas.
Doug (Jack Black) and Griff (Paul Rudd) have been best friends since they were kids, and have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favorite movie: the cinematic "classic" Anaconda. When a midlife crisis pushes them to finally go for it, they head deep into the Amazon to start filming. But things get real when an actual giant anaconda appears, turning their comically chaotic movie set into a deadly situation. The movie they’re dying to make? It might just get them killed!
With the release of the ANACONDA trailer, the countdown has begun for the film's release. Do you think the movie will be big hit or a giant flop?
THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER is now on Digital and will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on October 28 from Lionsgate. Based on the novel by Barbara Robinson, THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER is directed by Dallas Jenkins (“The Chosen”) and stars Judy Greer (13 Going on 30, Jurassic World), Pete Holmes (“Crashing,” “Dropout”), Molly Belle Wright (True Spirit, Mistletoe Ranch), and Lauren Graham (“Gilmore Girls,” “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers”). It is rated by the Motion Picture Association of America PG for thematic material and brief underage smoking.
The Herdmans are absolutely the worst kids in the history of the world. They lie, they steal, they bully…and now they’ve hijacked the town Christmas pageant. THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER follows six siblings who sneak into church searching for snacks and walk away with the lead roles in the town pageant. Grace (Judy Greer) is directing the performance for the very first time, but she and her daughter Beth (Molly Belle Wright) and husband Bob (Pete Holmes) are in over their heads, especially against a town that wants them to kick the Herdmans out. But the play’s mischievous stars might unwittingly teach a community the true meaning of Christmas.

Summer nights are a terror-ific time to stay up late being spooked out by a horror movie. Just as summer has arrived, so has 20th Century Studios’ The First Omen. The First Omen stars Nell Tiger Free (Servant), Tawfeek Barhom (Mary Magdalene), Sonia Braga (Kiss of the Spider Woman), Ralph Ineson (The Northman) and Bill Nighy (Living). The film is directed by Arkasha Stevenson based on characters created by David Seltzer (The Omen), with a story by Ben Jacoby (Bleed) and a screenplay by Tim Smith & Arkasha Stevenson and Keith Thomas (Firestarter).

Signs of The First Omen – Join the director and talented artists as they reveal some of the symbolism within the set designs and the costumes. Learn how the use of practical effects blurs the line between what is real and what is not in The First Omen’s terrifying world.

The film stars Rebecca Hall (“Godzilla vs. Kong,” The Night House”), Brian Tyree Henry (“Godzilla vs. Kong,” “Bullet Train”), Dan Stevens (“Gaslit,” “Legion,” “Beauty and the Beast”), Kaylee Hottle (“Godzilla vs. Kong”), Alex Ferns (“The Batman,” “Wrath of Man,” “Chernobyl”) and Fala Chen (“Irma Vep,” “Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”). Thank you to Warner Bros Pictures for sending me a free AQUAMAN swag pack to rev up my excitement about the new superhero film hitting movie theaters this Christmas weekend. Who is ready to dive into a new Aquaman adventure?! AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM is being released December 22, 2023.
Warner Bros Pictures hooked me up with some great gear to plunge into this movie experience. I was GEEKED to receive a cool jacket along with a warm hat to wear out when heading out in the winter weather to see this DC Comics inspired superhero movie. Also unboxed were some impressive swag including a comic book, ice cube tray, handwarmers, and a YETI. This was an AWESOME package to unbox!
After failing to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta wields the power of the mythic Black Trident to unleash an ancient and malevolent force. Hoping to end his reign of terror, Aquaman forges an unlikely alliance with his brother, Orm, the former king of Atlantis. Setting aside their differences, they join forces to protect their kingdom and save the world from irreversible destruction. AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM is rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America [MPAA] for sci-fi violence and some language.
All returning to the roles they originated, Jason Momoa plays Arthur Curry/Aquaman, now balancing his duties as both the King of Atlantis and a new father; Patrick Wilson is Orm, Aquaman’s half-brother and his nemesis, who must now step into a new role as his brother’s reluctant ally; Amber Heard is Mera, Atlantis’ Queen and mother of the heir to the throne; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is Black Manta, committed more than ever to avenge his father’s death by destroying Aquaman, his family and Atlantis; and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, a fierce leader and mother with the heart of a warrior. Also reprising their roles are Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin.
Are you planning a movie theater outing this holiday weekend to see AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM?
PREDATOR (1987) is one of my all-time favorite movies, but up to know unfortunately the sequels in the film franchise have been fairly disappointing. My opinion though may change when I actually get around to seeing the newest PREDATOR themed movie PREY (2022) which is finally being released on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray this Halloween season. Some great reviews of PREY have caught my attention and the movie was nominated for six Emmy Awards.
Produced as a Hulu exclusive, I've been bummed about not seeing the flick yet, but don't subscribe to that streaming service. I'm definitely planning on watching PREY now that it is going to be available to add to my home video entertainment library on October 3, 2023.
A Predator is one the hunt in this action-thriller set in 1719 on the Great Plains with a band of Comanches. When Naru, a fierce and highly skilled young warrior, sets out to protect her people, the prey she stalks turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator — leading to a vicious and terrifying showdown. The movie is rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America for strong bloody violence.
All formats of the home video release of PREY include a full-length Comanche audio track and never-before-seen bonus content. Other segments on the 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray releases that compliment the featured presentation include:
Making of Prey: Step behind the scenes of Prey as the cast and crew explore the genesis of the project, how they gave authenticity to the story, the intense physical training the cast endured, and the effects work that brought the iconic Predator back to the screen.
Prey FYC Panel With Cast & Crew: Go deeper into Prey with a lively panel discussion featuring director Dan Trachtenberg, actor Amber Midthunder, producer Jhane Myers, director of photography Jeff Cutter, film editor Angela M. Catanzaro and creature effects designer Alec Gillis.
Alternative Opening Scene: Check out a scene that didn’t make the cut with commentary by Dan Trachtenberg.
Deleted Scene: Big Warrior, Little Warrior: Check out a scene that didn’t make the cut with commentary by Dan Trachtenberg.
Deleted Scene: Treetop Chase (pre-vis): Check out a scene that didn’t make the cut with commentary by Dan Trachtenberg.
Audio Commentary: Play Movie With Audio Commentary By Dan Trachtenberg, Amber Midthunder, Jeff Cutter & Angela M. Catanzaro.
Are you geeked about the home video release of PREY on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray?
Sony Pictures invited me to attend a free screening of their upcoming GRAN TURISMOmovie which officially which begins its theatrical run on August 25, 2023. The film is inspired by the true story of a Nissan-sponsored Gran Turismo video game competition that gives its winner the chance to become a real-life professional race car driver. Gran Turismo is a highly detailed auto racing simulator video game for Sony PlayStation consoles that allows players to compete online against one another utilizing accurate recreations of actual cars and tracks. This movie isn't a "video game" movie though it is a bio pic about Jann Mardenborough, who has been involved in both triumphs and tragedies driving cars on race tracks.
The Gran Turismo movie is a nice underdog story that will rev up your spirits. Rudy with race cars! It earned a Geek Daddy nod of approval because you don't need to be a gamer or gearhead to enjoy cheering on the movie's hero to the film's finish line. Taking in Grand Turismo's high octane race scenes are an exciting way to enjoy the last stretch of the summer season.
Veteran actors David Harbour (Stranger Things) and Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean) compliment the performance of the movie's youthful central figure Jann Mardenborough played by Archie Madekwe (Midsommar). Harbour and Bloom do an excellent job of creating for audiences a sense of drama that creates an element of intensity for the challenges that Madekwe's character must overcome. I realized as the end credits began rolling that I had become so immersed in the action of the show that I'd bought into feeling as if these actors were actually the people they were portraying and their scenes were real events rather than Hollywood reenactments. I became invested in wanting to see Madekwe's character succeed with the film having the air of a reality show documenting his career progression rather than actors going through the lines of a script.
I also learned in the end credits that Jann Mardenborough served as a stunt driver for Grand Turismo. The credits include pictures of him with various cast members. That really reinforced the true story aspect of this film in a nice way.
This film is rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association for the following reasons: intense action and some strong language. Gran Turismo has a runtime of 2 hours and fifteen minutes. For more information about this motion picture visit www.granturismo.movie

I'll be honest, I don't know much about the DC Comics superhero Blue Beetle other than he is being featured in an upcoming summer movie and that the character is being played by Xolo Maridueña who kicked ass in the role of Miguel Diaz in Cobra Kai. Are you geeked about seeing this karate kid star in the DC Comics BLUE BEETLE movie?
Blue Beetle flies into movie theaters across the United States and Canada on August 18, 2023. Check out the new trailer just released by Warner Bros:
Recent college grad Jaime Reyes [Maridueñ] returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero BLUE BEETLE.
Starring alongside Maridueña (“Cobra Kai”) are Adriana Barraza (“Rambo: Last Blood,” “Thor”) as Jaime’s grandmother, Nana, Damían Alcázar (“Narcos,” “Narcos: Mexico”) as his father, Elpidia Carrillo (“Mayans M.C.,” the “Predator” films) as his mother, Bruna Marquezine (“Maldivas,” “God Save the King”) as Jenny Kord, Raoul Max Trujillo (the “Sicario” films, “Mayans M.C.”) as Carapax, with Oscar winner Susan Sarandon (“Monarch,” “Dead Man Walking”) as Victoria Kord, and George Lopez (the “Rio and “Smurf” franchises) as Jaime’s Uncle Rudy. The film also stars Belissa Escobedo (“American Horror Stories,” “Hocus Pocus 2”) as Jaime’s sister, Milagro, and Harvey Guillén (“What We Do in the Shadows”) as Dr. Sanchez. Directed by Angel Manuel Soto, Blue Beetle is rated PG-13 for sequences of action and violence, language and some suggestive references.

Who is your favorite Looney Tunes character? Bugs Bunny...Daffy Duck...Porky Pig? Mine is the Tasmanian Devil. Probably because like me he is a wild and crazy guy who isn't always the most articulate person in the room. I've been a fan of TAZ way back to when able to remember first watching Saturday morning cartoons as a kid.
TAZ: QUEST FOR BURGER is a new, original movie from Warner Bros Animation that will be focused on the Tasmanian Devil. Get ready for the comedic and touching adventure that proves every misfit can be a hero, with Taz: Quest For Burger, which is having a straight to digital media release on June 6, 2023. After an outlaw abducts her father and steals their town's food supply, a feisty adolescent Bandicoot named Quinn recruits The Tasmanian Devil to help her find the thief. Taz may be an ill-tempered rogue with a fearsome reputation, but he and Quinn will have to work together to track the criminal through the wilds of Tasmania and save her community.

A mystery box courtesy of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment arrived at our doorstep the other day. What could be inside?! Wow! A box full of free goodies for a Puss in Boots family movie night!
The leche-loving, swashbuckling, fearless feline, Puss in Boots returns for a brand-new animated movie adventure along with his former partner and nemesis Kitty Softpaws as well as a new sidekick tritagonist Perro who adds some canine hijinks into the cats' death-defying quest. PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH COLLECTOR'S EDITION is now available to add to your home entertainment video library on Digital, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD. The movie is rated PG by the Motion Picture Association of America for action/violence, rude language and scary moments.
The home entertainment edition of PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH COLLECTOR'S EDITION includes over an hour of bonus content. These include an all new short titled THE TRIDENT along with featurettes delving into the movies cast of characters and behind the scenes details about making this animated flick. Of course, it also has deleted scenes too which we've come to expect on home video releases of movies.
We had a fun night spending some quality family time watching the new Puss in Boots movie and enjoying the goodies Universal Pictures Home Entertainment sent our way. They sent a nice Paint by Numbers art project that my daughter won the opportunity to be the one to add a splash of color to it in a rock, paper, scissors competition between her, my wife and my son. I'm going to hold onto this quality painter apron they sent for my tabletop gaming hobby. I've been painting a lot of miniature game pieces lately for Deadzone, Dodos Riding Dinos, Marvel United, Star Wars Legion and Zombicide. This painting bib will really come in handy!
Our family movie night fun pack also included a bunch of activity sheets with crosswords, puzzles and mazes that we had fun with before watching PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH on the Blu-ray that was also included with our goodies. We also enjoyed flipping through The Art of Puss in Boots book that was included in our family movie night box. This 184 page hardcover book is really impressive, especially for people like me who have an appreciation of the concept art used in the creation of movies.
The Art of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish shows hundreds of character designs and concept art from the making of the movie, along with exclusive interviews from the writers, artists, and filmmakers who brought this story to life. It also features a foreword from Antonio Banderas. This book provides a glimpse into the creative process from the film and celebrates the character's history in the Shrek universe. Movie geeks are sure to appreciate this insiders guide to how Puss in Boots has been brought to life in his cinematic adventures.
The kids also enjoyed snuggling these plushes of Puss in Boots, Kitty Softpaws and Perro while we watched the movie. The first Puss in Boots that came out in 2011 was one of the first films we took them to go see in a movie theater. I still remember my 3-year old daughter yelling out in the theater "bad kitty!" during one scene when Puss in Boots wasn't behaving himself. Seeing the two of them playing around with these plush toys during our family movie night brought back some nice memories. We had just gone to their high school orientation night a few days earlier and as they are nearing graduation from middle school it was hard to believe time has flown by so fast. So, the Puss in Boots character does hold a special place in our family's hearts.
As my kids are teenagers now, I wasn't sure how much they'd actually be into watching animated movies anymore. We tend to watch more superhero and science fiction movies these days then cartoon fairy tales. My wife and I were both shocked when our fourteen year old son said he thought PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH was better than the ANT-MAN & THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA and AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER which are two of the most recent films we've seen at theaters. In fact, he's watched PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH twice more since our family movie night and been talking about his favorite moments from the show with us a lot. My son's enjoyment of the movie alone earns it a Geek Daddy nod of approval.
In PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH, the feline outlaw discovers that his passion for adventure and heroic missions have taken their toll. Puss has burned through eight of his nine lives, though he lost count along the way. Getting those lives back will send Puss in Boots into the Black Forest to find the mythical Wishing Star on his most grandiose quest yet.
With only one life left, Puss is forced to humble himself and ask for help from his former lover and nemesis: Kitty Softpaws. They are joined in their journey by a chatty and cheerful mutt named Perro. Together this trio of heroes will need to stay one step ahead of the fairy tale realm's craftiest crooks including Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH is available now on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital so you can have your own evening of being transported to the fairy tale realm for a family movie night.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment provided ageekdaddy.com with the featured product for promotional consideration. Opinions expressed are honest and my own.
We had a fantastic family movie night watching LYLE, LYLE CROCODILE courtesy of Sony Pictures providing us with an advance copy of the movie before its official December 13 home video release on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD. I actually wasn't expecting to like LYLE, LYLE CROCODILE as much as I did to be honest thinking it would be more focused towards entertaining the young children that the book which inspired the movie was written for. This movie though will actually captivate audiences of all ages! The adults in our family as well as our teen kids all thought LYLE, LYLE CROCODILE was great.
My family loves the Paddington movies that mix in a mischievous cgi bear with live action. This film has the same setup and many similarities when it comes to an orphaned animal being adopted by an off-kilter family leading to humorous scenarios that ultimately result in everyone's attitudes and spirits being uplifted. In this movie though it isn't a bear from darkest Peru but rather a singing crocodile that is the star of the show.
LYLE, LYLE CROCODILE is elevated beyond the funny hijink of a friendly crocodile living in the city by also including toe-tapping musical sequences. The entertaining songs incorporated into the movie soundtrack provide an energetic vibe to the film. Plus, LYLE, LYLE CROCODILE is filled with original, new music from the songwriters of THE GREATEST SHOWMAN. I really have to say BRAVO to the music in this movie!
LYLE, LYLE CROCODILE is rated PG by the Motion Picture Association of America. The MPAA rating is for mild peril and thematic elements. As a dad have to say in my opinion this movie is all ages friendly without anything parents should really be worried about a child seeing. A great film for a family movie night!
In LYLE, LYLE CROCODILE when the Primm family moves to New York City their young son Josh struggles to adapt to his new school and make friends. All of that changes when he discovers Lyle -- a singing crocodile who loves baths, caviar and great music -- living in the attic of his new home. The boy and crocodile become close friends, but when Lyle is threatened by evil neighbor Mr. Grumps, the Primm's must band together with the crocodile's charismatic and aloof owner, Hector P. Valenti, to show the world that family can come together from the most unexpected places. There is nothing wrong with a big singing crocodile with an even bigger personality!
