BROADWAY IN DETROIT 2025-2026 SHOW SCHEDULE

Do you enjoy live stage shows? If so, you'll be delighted to see the lineup of shows coming to the Detroit Opera House and Fisher Theatre for the 2025-2026 Broadway in Detroit season. It kicks off with Beauty and the Beast on October 1, 2025 and wraps up with Hamilton running from April 28 - May 17, 2026. There is a lot to be thrilled about when it comes to Broadway-style theatrical presentations coming to Detroit!

Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST | Fisher Theatre | October 1 – 12

Be Our Guest at Disney’s 30th Anniversary production of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, the breathtaking musical filled with the romance and grandeur audiences know and love. This enchanting and timeless tale has been brought to life like never before, with spectacular new sets and dazzling costumes. BACK TO THE FUTURE: THE MUSICAL | Detroit Opera House | October 28 – November 9 

Great Scott! Back to the Future, the beloved, cinematic classic is now a Broadway musical with its destination set for Detroit. When Marty McFly finds himself transported back to 1955 in a time machine built by the eccentric scientist Doc Brown, he accidentally changes the course of history. Now he’s in a race against time to fix the present, escape the past, and send himself... back to the future. Winner of the 2022 Olivier Award for Best New Musical, when Back to the Future hits 88mph, it’ll change musical theater history forever.

HELL’S KITCHEN | Fisher Theatre | December 2 – 14 

Ali is a 17-year-old girl full of fire–searching for freedom, passion and her place in the world. How she finds them is a New York City coming-of-age story you've never felt before–HELL’S KITCHEN, a new musical from 17-time Grammy® Award winner Alicia Keys, whose new songs and greatest hits about growing up in NY inspire a story made for Broadway.

SHUCKED | Fisher Theatre | December 23 – January 4, 2026 

Tony Award®–winning musical comedy about an unlikely hero, a lovable con man, and an a-maize-ing battle for the heart & soil of Cob County. Featuring a book by Tony Award winner Robert Horn (Tootsie), a score by the Grammy® Award–winning songwriting team of Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally (Kacey Musgraves’ “Follow Your Arrow”), and directed by Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien (Hairspray), this corn-fed, corn-bred American musical is sure to satisfy your appetite for great musical theater.

 

THE OUTSIDERS  | Fisher Theatre | March 3 – 15 

The winner of the 2024 Tony Award® for Best Musical is THE OUTSIDERS. This classic coming-of-age story takes you to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1967, where Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend Johnny Cade, and their family of Greaser “outsiders” dream about who they want to become in a world that will never accept them. THE OUTSIDERS features Danya Taymor’s Tony Award winning direction and a “soul-bearing and tuneful” (New York Stage Review) original score. With “high-octane choreography” (New York Magazine), THE OUTSIDERS has been described as “more pulse-pounding than anything else on Broadway!” (Time Out New York).

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA  | Detroit Opera House | February 4 – 15

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is widely considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular productions in history, playing to over 160 million people in 47 territories and 195 cities in 21 languages. SUFFS | Fisher Theatre | April 14 – 26

HAMILTON RETURNS TO BROADWAY IN DETROIT

The national tour of the theatrical hit HAMILTON is returning to Detroit this year for a run at the Fisher Theatre from November 15 - December 4 after a series of sold out shows in 2021. Tickets will be available to purchase starting August 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Ticketmaster.com, BroadwayinDetroit.com, in person at the Fisher Theatre Box Office or by calling (800) 982-2787.  The show's runtime is 2 Hours 45 Minutes including one 15-minute intermission. All ticket purchasers will receive a Broadway in Detroit Health & Safety Guide via email in the days prior to their performance.

Performance times for HAMILTON appearing November 15 – December 4, 2022 at the Fisher Theatre located at 3011 W. Grand Blvd., in Detroit are:

SHIRLEY TEMPLE RECIPE

What do you get when you mix together grenadine syrup and soda? A non-alcoholic beverage known as a Shirley Temple. Everyone has probably heard of this drink but have you ever had one? I recently made this classic American drink for my kids to enjoy while watching the hit play Hamilton about one of the country's Founding Fathers on the Disney+ streaming service.

Here is how you make some of these sweet treats for yourself. Get some lemon lime soda like 7 Up or ginger ale such as Vernors. Pick up some Torani Grenadine Syrup. Don't know what grenadine is? Grenadine is a syrup used for mixed drinks made of pomegranate juice sweetened with sugar and made tart with lemon juice. Plus you'll want to grab a jar of maraschino cherries.

Fill a glass with ice. Pour in the Torani Grenadine Syrup (1 oz for every 8 oz of soda or ginger ale). Add the lemon lime soda or ginger ale next to fill the glass. Place a maraschino cherry or two on a tooth pick. Use that to stir up the drink to mix together the grenadine with the soda. Then use the cherry for a garnishment. There you have it ... a Shirley Temple.

To be honest a Shirley Temple tastes to me like Cherry 7-Up, but it is something out of the ordinary to sip on which can make an occasion unique or extra special. If lemon lime soda or ginger ale isn't to your liking try a Roy Rogers which is the same recipe but with a dark cola used for its base instead. My kids were excited that I made us all Shirley Temples as a sweet treat for some family time watching HAMILTON together.

Have you seen the Disney+ broadcast of the Broadway Production of this Tony Award winning musical? What did you think? I have to admit I've found myself humming some of the songs since watching it.

So how did the Shirley Temple get named after the famous child star of the 1930s? There are a variety of claims to who named it. One account is a bartender at Chasen's in Beverly Hills created the mocktail for the actress to honor her celebrating her 10th birthday with family and friends at the restaurant. Another story is The Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki invented the drink because Shirley Temple was a frequent guest there. The Brown Derby in Hollywood also lays claim to naming the drink because it had a number of alcoholic drinks named after celebrities and wanted something appealing to patrons who brought their children along with them to the restaurant.

While it is not known for certain who started calling this sweet concoction of grenadine and ginger ale a Shirley Temple, the actress made it known she wasn't a fan herself of the mocktail. Shirley Temple made it known that she never liked the drink and was opposed to the notion of cocktails, even if they were non-alcoholic mocktails, being being marketed to kids. It is the opinion of this dad blogger though that having a Shirley Temple is thought of as more as a fun specialty drink than a non-alcoholic version of a cocktail. So I don't mind my kids indulging in a Shirley Temple from time to time.
